Default 1995 CBR 900?

Hello: I am possibly going to purchace a one owner 52000km(32000mile)mint 95 cbr900,I read that they have some issues with "regultors-rectifiers"how often do these parts blow-out,are they replaced or repaired?Alsoare these still available from honda dealers? And what sort of prices for parts(plus labour) are they?
Are there any other issues(cams, bearings, fork seals, etc.) should be aware of?What size rims do these bike have 16 or 17?
Finallydo the dealers still have parts for these bikes, cam chains, brake pads, steering head bearings?
thanks:R.J

Mint. I like that word, makes me think nice thoughts. If that one owner has not needed to replace the R/R already, you probably won't either. Even if you do, there are aftermarket versions available. They are drop in parts, not repairable...simple. Say, 100-150 USD. Same with the stator/alternator unit.

Internally, the connecting rod bearings have failed on some bikes, but I am convinced it is the stunters and hard-riding twits that have exposed that problem. Again, if your new 95 is mint, no worries. Just change the oil regularly.

Other than that, not a lot of issues with the 900RR. OEM parts availability is getting scarce. But there are many aftermarket parts available, including fork seals, steering head bearings, brake pads and lines, CCTLs, oil and air filters, even tires...the new Bridgestone BT-016s are available in 900RR size: 130/70ZR-16. Sixteen being the operative word, all CBR900RRs (93-99) have 16" front wheels and 17" rears (180/55ZR-17).

Good luck. Let us know if you buy it, post up some pics.

Post pics!

See if the guy will let you check the charging system by putting a voltmeter to the battery (you gotta take the seat off first) and then test the battery with the engine on and off.

Should give you an idea if the battery is being charged properly.

If the guy says he just put a new battery in the bike, that COULD be a red flag.

Two Hondabikes that I've bought 2nd hand had the seller telling me "I just put a new battery in" and they both had charging problems. (1992 600f2, 1993 900rr)

I changed my rectifier 2 years ago and till date there is no charging issue. Guess the battery is almost 3 years ready and still ok as well.
I can't think of any other specific issues on the 900 and don't find the 16" wheel a problem too.
