1993 CBR 900RR with Erion Racing Triple Tree
I picked up this bike a couple of years ago for a pretty good deal. I have been slowly going through it, getting it back to stock, with the exception of a few tasteful modifications. Which brings me to today's question...
The bike came with an Erion Racing triple tree, which I know is not stock. I've never seen this on any other 900RR and was just wondering if there is any significance to it or if anyone knows anything about it. It looks nice but I was thinking about putting the stock triple tree back on.

On a somewhat related note Scutfargas, my brother has the exact same bike as yours. When I ride his, the steering feels a bit different than mine. I'm assuming it has something to do with the difference in geometry mentioned above.
Your bike is awesome, by the way.
Thanks for the compliment on the bike Hollywood. It is very good that you were able to compare the two. Did your brother's bike seem to steer quicker or slower. The stock steering geometry was pretty severe, especially with a 16" wheel, and a lot of people thought the steering was a little too quick with not enough stability. The numbers were 24 degrees rake angle with 3.5 inches of trail. Back then, Two Brothers Racing made a triple tree that changed the rake to a less steep angle (can't remember the degrees) and extended the trail out to around 4 inches or so. That tree combined with a 17" wheel was just what the doctor ordered for most racers.
I happen to love the flighty steering. ;-)

I'm so glad that I read this thread. I've been wondering why my bike's previous owner had a steering dampener put on, now I know, the thing's known to be flighty. Now it makes sense (94 900rr). Sorry for the hijack.
The Erion bikes were more than just diff graffix. my bro had one and it was a better tuned machine than my reg 900RR. +1 .. youve got somthin good to work with bro. and yes , in my opinion scutfargas has the absolutely sweetest bike here with out question.
Hey guys - Thanks for the feedback and comments. I actually ended up calling Erion Racing and talking to a guy there that said he remembers selling these triple clamps for the 900RRs. He claimed that they make a significant difference and that I shouldn't take it off. But then again, he's probably a salesman...
Here's another little tidbit on my bike that I haven't seen before. Check out solo tail in the attached picture. I think it looks pretty sweet but it stinks not having the under-seat storage. The bike came with this tail, as well as the "standard" tail and back seat. The guy that I bought it from swore left and right that this solo tail was a "factory" part and is very rare. The paint and graphics look exactly like the standard tail pieces. Who knows, maybe the guy I bought it from is a salesman too.
bambam - You got my twin!

hehehe we are all salesmen!!! i have on occasion seen bikes on the showroom with the solo seat but never thot to ask about it. hollywood , your 93 is super clean, i have the exact bike and have spent a mint tryin to get back to stock. nice bike bro, has your charging system failed yet? how many miles does yours have?
Thanks bambam. It's got just under 23,000 on it. The charging system was fine when I bought it but I went ahead and replaced the R&R on it anyway. Hopefully it will be fine now. I see that you have my twin. Looks good! I really like your 929 though...sweet. I'd like to pick one of those up someday....either red like yours or the red/white/black Erion.
The bike looks fantastic Hollywood! I wouldn't change a thing on it. Love the solo tailpiece. I'm not sure Honda ever offered one from the factory, but I know that they were plentiful in the aftermarket back in the day. Yours looks perfect though, so maybe it is a Honda piece. Do you have a white/red/black one????
