16" tire recommendations

I still have the factory tire on my 16" 900RR wheel.......sitting in the attic. I played that game for about 2 minutes back in the early/mid 90s and a 17" rim has been mod #1 on every bike since.

I found a Qualifier front, then went with Q2 rear.... Works well together and very confident cornering. This is my last set Dunlop because I don't think any more Q1 left out there. If there is, make date is way past due to be safe..... I like to stay with same name brand front + rear.... You may think because material composition varies from brand to brand.... If your running Bridgestone front & Michelin rear....Bridgestone is know to be hard...longer to warm up Vs Michelin is softer??? Don't think that's good combo if rear is slicker than front?
I went from Bridgestone to Dunlops. D207 -D208. Bike sat for a few years and this year when I put it back on road I went looking for tires. No more Qualifiers left out there (at least I couldn't find them anyway) and no Q2's made for 16" so I had to try something else.
16" choices were Avon VP2 Sport, Bridgestone BT-016, Conti Sport Attack, and Metzeler Sportec M3.
Best prices searching around - Avon and Conti were $250+ for the set, Bridgestone $225 and Metzeler $199. Prices seem to be a bit higher right now.
I had put Metzelers on my FJ1100 (years ago) and really liked them so I figured I'd try them again.
I like them. the feel is good. Unfortunately, being in SoFla right now I have had zero opportunity to test their ability in the twisties. my bike begs me for another trip back to the Gap. oh well, maybe next year.

if ur on the track a lot of guys like matching sets..is it necessary NO!... on the street absolutly not! i love my pilot power on rear... chicken strips have long been gone and m3 on front is confident...on the street i give quite a few miles to warm up before goin hard...on the track i use tire warmers

Welcome neighbor. I am up in Weatherly. Close to Tamaqua, so you are about 45 mins/hour away. It would be nice to have someone relatively close by to ride with. I am usually free after 4. Wife works until then and I got the little one til then.
