only done it when I was drag racing. DONT DO IT ALL THE TIME. You have a clutch for a reason USE IT. basically let off throttle, jam her in the next gear not using the clutch and get back on the throttle. Its BAD for the tranny, pratice covering the clutch, pulling ack on it quickly and releasing quickly all while you are up shifting, it will be easier on your tranny. Personally I would have to replace clutches than replace a transmission. check out the drag racing section, there are some advise in that section on how to shift. But if you are just street riding there isnt a need to power shift, or quick shift. pull the clutch in shift, then release.

okay im going to make this comment not knowing the eventual outcome but if ur cruising through town and put tension on the lever... but dont jam on it just lift ur toes up or down and hold it... the bike will shift gears on its own at a certain rpm range... im not sure how bad this is on the tranny i know truckers use a similar technique... ive only done it a few times....

zmd....LOL.. So how did you figure that out?....
Sounds like you ride kinda like me. "I wonder what would happen if......"
(not good... )
Yep, it's certainly possible.
Good for the trans?
I'm with bubba on the "you have a clutch for a reason" comment, tho.
Just not on this:

Power shifting down is good for the tranny? Is that even possible?
