I wouldn't fret just yet. Does your fan come on at all? There are variables such as the outside temp, if you're in stop and go traffic, type of coolant used etc.. and although 228ËšF is on the high side it is not completely out of normal range. If you do a search you'll find most come on around 220-225 but sometimes a bit higher depending on conditions. Does your fan come on when you turn bike off but leave key in the "on" setting position right after riding for a while?

You also may want to check your fuses, to make sure something isn't blown. No need to take your new ride apart just yet!

my fan does not come on at all. i was on my buddies r6 and his kicked on and i was like 'wtf was that?' ..he said his fan.. ive never heard mine kick on unless its ungodly quiet and im just missin it. ive only had the bike almost 2 weeks.. its my first bike.. total noob so thanks for the help everyone.. ill go run it a bit and see if it comes on.
last night when we were riding it was about 68 degrees out btw.. average riding temp was 178.. rolling slow speed temp was in the 180s.. red light- hot damn- 220+..

228 isnt out of the norm, mine goes at 219 though. Take it to a stealership and have them check it out. Its still under warranty, or should be.
