Default What is the advantage of stealing a bike?

Hello all,

I am so sorry for this topic but I have just finnished couple of articles about stolen bikes.

I was just wondering if someone steals the bike, they dont have the keys and the HONDA offers the special key protection HISS (whatever it is called). Or do they start the engine with any wires, like i see in movies on cars?? Or they dont ride it at all and do steal the bikes totakethem a part and sell piece by piece??

Just dont understand the advantage of stealing a bike actually. If I am going to steel something it is going to be an amount but not a "stupid" bike for sure. May be the thefts are so stupid, that they dont find a better way to getmoney.

Can't see any good advantage of it.

If a person who steals bike could read and reply to this I would even pay for his answer otherwise please give my your opinions folks if you feel like it.

Actually, if we know why they steal we could know how toavoidit. May be stupid what i said but it may make sence in some ways.

Sorry for all whose bike has been stolen and wish the rest to aviod this.

Here in some ARAB countries would cut a hand for any kind of crime to this. I would love to do that to some one if they steel my bike man. I bet they would not do it again.

I presume they sell the parts ?

IMO these people think they are getting something for nothing. They'll all get caught in the end.

They perhaps have never felt the satisfaction of working hard to acheive something, or saving money
from a real job to buy a dream bike like most of us have done. That, plus they are too stupid to think in
such abstract ways, or at all.

Loosing a hand is perhaps a bit rough, but a couple of years in a pound-you-in-the-*** prison sounds about right.

jesus monkey christ, what an awesome topic!!!!
you got to be kidding if you dont understand why people steal things. first you can go around that key issue. you can see a theif drive away in your ride, a most disappointing sight but a possible one. also, you can sell the parts.
other reasons exist but im not listing them because i dont want to give anyone any ideas.
people steal stuff on every moment basis and they do it to make/save money, not a news flash to anyone alive.

steal..... strip and sell parts on ebay...... good 3-5k profit... and very easy.... also could just get another ignition if wanted to ride it but then you are screwed when get pulled over.....or.. buy a frame and swap all parts..... usually bikes are easy to steal and easy to make into a profit or make into a "new bike".. i dont see how you can't see these options

lots of reasons like fixing there own trashed bike and making cash from the unused parts.

I get very worried since my bike was dropped befor I got it and has some light scratches but still gets tons on attention when ever I take it out[] I guess the other brand ownerslike the rr bikes better?

not to high jack the thread but could I buy a newer cell phone and then hard wire it to the bike and hid it so I could GPS the bike?

You would pay for a thief to confess??? This is too good sigh. You don't know why they steele bikes but you have written several papers on it hmmm? Am I the only one who is noticing this stuff?.... about the cell phone clever idea. You would have to hook cell phone up to bikes power suply also cause if battery goes dead on phone then no tracking also have to keep water out of phone or dead in a heart beat good idea but probably just as cheap to get the real thing.

you got the idea but for the price of a cell. I belive it is cheaper than the tracking systems. (I think start at about 300.00 up and are very large in size) only part that I can see would be hard isgetting the police or 911 centerto track it fast enough. or getting the program to do it your self

Ya still got to pay for extra cell phone line and however much a phone cost that has the digatil locater on it all you do is go under settings and turn on your location finder for 911 then they should be able to track it. This is a very interesting idea I think it would come down to how much per month gps system is and if you want to spend time retro fitting a phone pluss what about the electrical system don't want to mess up that stuff trust me its not fun. Great idea though I would love to see this actualy worked out gana have to rename you RAMBO lol

1.) can make alot of money
2.) can make another bike if you switch over frame
3.) can make a good stunt bike
4.) 600rr, 1000rr bikes are the easiest to steal
5.) dont get rotor locks they dont do ****
6.) what you work for 2years to pay off if someone steals can be made in a week
7.) alot of bikes can be hotwired, the key lock can be kicked off...
8.) the best way to protect your bike is dont let me be seen or somewere the theifes know they will be caught I.O video cameras, chains wraped threw and around frame, dogs =]
9.) there are some theifs that will break into your garage and it take out of there... my friend caught one and had a glock to his head till the cops got there
10.) low jack is useless as well... i bet some people around here that i can find lockjack within 15 mins of looking at their bike

i dont steal bikes but i know alot of about theft provention i had a bike stolen from me once and now i make sure thats never happening again... thats perhaps the worst feeling in the world, right next to getting kicked in the nuts
