Pulled the right fairings off and saw this little box with a key lock on it. The ignition key doesn't open it. Anybody know what it is or what it is for?

Ignition key should open it. ITs a compartment for your tool kit (or whatevr you want to put in there if you dont have one)

 

Is it really? I found the same thing on mine and was wondering, but never bothered to try the ignition key.

 

I tried the ignition key but it would not turn. Also didn't look like it went all the way down. I didn't want to force it too much. Will try again tonight.

 

Yea its def. your tool kit. Its pretty amazing you need a damn tool to get to your tool kit. Ignition key should open it. Im not sure whats inside, ive never bothered to open it

 

my key doesnt open mine either...so i broke it open...oh well

 

lol you don't need a tool to open it...any key will turn the bolt enough to pop it off. The ignition key should open the box. It doesn't go all the way in, but it should open it. Not that you can get very much in there.

I actually thought it was a pretty good idea, given the little room under the seat.

yeah its not a key lock, just putsomething in the slot just a little way in and turn and it will open.

I took mine off and threw it away.

i keep a tire plug in mine and it came in handy

 

Is this compartment on the 07's? and if so which side?
