Hey, just to give you a heads up for next season----we have a new captain in the knoxville district which covers blount county------ he has already told us that we will put a stop to the "race track driving" up on the dragon this year------so far what they have said is that the speed limit is 30mph and "ANYONE" caught going 50mph and up will be charged with reckless driving and will be jailed and their bike/car will be impounded--- --I am telling you this because i am trying to put the word out to everyone i know----or to people who know people that go up there-----I don't want to have to take people to jail for this---however I have bills to pay and I kind of like having a job---so never the less I have to do what i am told to do-----so the way i see it is that if killboy.com knows and you know and dealsgap.com knows and whoever else can find out can pass this along---it will benefit everybody--- -----feel free to copy and past this and let everyone know-------if you get caught up there it is only your fault because i am trying to pass the word along for everybody's sake-----we are not just going to come up from the bottom like in years past---they are gonna have us go through cherohala skwy in north carolina and come from the top down to the bottom----so no more free rides on your way back to the state line----they are gonna bring unmarked cars with radio's and have unmarked bikes up there----this will be a joint effort with blount county and the THP-----The entire THP motor unit will be brought in 2 people at a time(for a week long assignment) to be paired up with the local car----they plan on busting tail at least 3-4 times right off the bat---then they will sit back and see what takes place-----these orders came from Nashville Headquarters- --we have a complete brand new higher ranking structure from the very tip top spot down----they have said we will work until the problem is solved----just wanted to give you and your friends a heads up.......... Hey. Thanks Alot!!! Me and a couple riding buddies just started going down there last year. We plan on making it a yearly trip. So... will the laws get so strict as to be getting fined for only going the 30mph limit? I was behind some harleys that were going faster than that! But then again... I did meet a couple of people that were riding way outta there league. Like this dude that passed 2 cars, 4 bikes, all going around three blind curves, on a ninja 250. Dumba@#! I guess it's a matter of too many stupid people ruining it for everyone else. But anyways... Thanks for the heads up. You guys got it made around the mountains. All I got in Southern Indiana is flat-ground,rough pavement, and horse&buggies.

 

Interesting.... I've seen posts like this before. Not saying this is not true, but there seems to be skepticism as to whether it is true or not.

I went to KillBoy.com and didn't see anything on it there.

I then went to DealsGap.com and they do have something about it there. They are skeptical, but not saying it is or is not true. I guess only time will tell.

Again, I don't know if it's true or not. I just don't want anyone canceling their trip or altering their plans until we know for sure.

There are idiots that ride the Dragon insanely. Yes, lots of wrecks & stuff going on. But, it's the very negative way they're coming down on this sneaking in & trying to just ruin one of the best riding roads in the world by setting up constant speed traps if what we read here is correct. I'm sick of strong-armed law enforcement tactics. Just recently, the Governor of Georgia stated we will have "Super Speeder" fines in GA now for going 75+ on a 2 lane road and 85+ on any interstate. These will be $200 MORE than the prior fines. In other words, an ADDITIONAL $200 tacked on.

I immediately wrote him a letter telling him it was harrasment and just another road tax. I asked, who alive hasn't ever gone 75 mph on a 2 lane road before??? I finished by asking him if the next time he flies on my corporate jet (I've carried him before as a passenger), would his driver bring him to the airport at 75+ mph if he was running a bit late?

I'm just sick of the politics behind the hyper speed enforcement we're starting to see. I'm sick of photo cop. Sick of the slow but sure erosion of all privacy, all places where you can determine what you want to do with your bike, car, horse, dog, whatever. Slowly but surely we're turning into a socialist nightmare in this country. This is just one more tiny slip of our freedoms.

 

It's just another way of saying "save it for the track." But if they keep closing the tracks where are supposed to ride/drive like fools.FTP

 

It's getting worse than that....in today'snews also recent developments by insurance companies to make sure none of our cars OR bikes are covered if we're on a track even for a driver / rider education event!!

This is spreading like wildfire through the insurance industry just this year. They've gotten word about our "track days" and DE schools. They're specifically writing language into our policies excluding coverage if we are on ANY surface / facility used for speed, racing, etc. Recently, in Utah a public road was closed by Utah St Police for a high speed timed event. An Enzo was totalled. The insurance companies are now apparently going to use the language "or public roads closed for the purpose of a high speed, timed or racing event".

I'm not seeing any way around it at all. We're screwed!! No coverage at any track for any school, etc. Only options are going to become renting track bikes at a venue. Can you say EXPENSIVE!!!

Also, they're excluding any sort of liability for personal injury, bodily injury, etc. So if when you crash, you take out a corner worker, etc., you are personally liable. No insurance for it whatsoever.

 

This is getting rediculous... its a good thing we have all these brave guys overseas fighting for such a "free" country... what is it with these douchebags that are on top of the chain who want to close everything down that is fun for people to do? Im very pissed right now just thinking of how tight government is starting to get... id rant but it wont do anything, and im mad enough I probably wont even be coherent [:@]

 

+10000. Just be glad you aren't 2 years old right now. I feel sorry for those kids and the BS they will deal with.

After this insurance scam is over, you'll have to buy TRACK insurance for probably the cost of the bike!

BULLETIN:We have received numerous emails concerning the recent posting on the Internet by a supposed Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper warning of dire consequences on the Dragon this coming year for speeders. We do not post rumors on this site so we contacted Captain Ray Fletcher of the Knoxville Division Tennessee Highway Patrol. He confirmed as we had believed that some of the details in the post are completely false, such as the immediate arrest and impoundment of vehicles for speeding over 50 mph on the Dragon.


Captain Fletcher was not able to comment on whether or not the post was made by a Trooper, but some of the language, unusual statements and obvious errors as stated above make us believe the post was by someone other than who supposedly signed their name and position to it. Obviously a real Trooper would not jeopardize his job by signing such a post.


Captain Fletcher stated that the laws will be enforced on the Dragon as they are on all Tennessee roadways. Tail of the Dragon advises riders to obey the laws and they will have no trouble with the Tennessee Highway Patrol or Blount County Sheriff Deputies.
