Default WATCH OUT!!!

Three weeks ago my buddies and I are running on the freeway at around 70, when we encounter the 110 to 91 west (CA) interchange which is a long wide sweeping right turn. My buddy in front gets hard on his bike and takes the turn at about 75 in the second lane. I follow behind him at about 75. As we keep up with traffic on our right I notice something coming up close. DAMN! its a car taking my lane just short of my blind spot on my right!! I am in full lean short of the apex of the turn and because I am still a squirrel I let off the gas to let the bastard by and save my skin. But the bike starts to stand up and I see the concrete median coming up fast. CRAP, and that is when I blow everything. Yes I am embarrased to say that I freaked out as I stared into the median. At this point I can tell you several other things I should have done but instead my brand new black 05 CBR 600 RR and I hit the median at about 60. As I was about to hit I got control of my brain and hung my butt off of the right side to save it enough that I slid down the midian. The front tire hit on the left, which threw my tire to the right. For about 20 feet my front tire went back and forth and kept slamming me into the median and grinding my leg on the nice concrete. (yes jeans... joe rocket jacket and gloves) By the time I slowed her down my leg was hurtting pretty bad and Sasha (the bike) stayed straight for a second and decided to turn left at about 1mph. At that point I wanted off and put my right leg down and stepped off the bike and fell to the left onto the median. The bike leaned to the right and slid on her side for about 4 feet. At that very moment I looked up and noticed an Escalade tear by at about 60 in the lane next to me. Had I done anything else I am afraid my body would have had a new logo imprinted on me someplace. The truck just missed Sasha and after about four other cars continue down the freeway (not stopping, and without a care in the world) my buddy behind me slows down and stops next to the median next to me. we assess the damage and really sasha is just cosmeticly damaged. She is leaking radiator fluid, and we stand her up and I ride her home. She rides fine except that her left foot peg is bent, and shifting is difficult. Anyway I take her in and the bill comes up to 4756.38 dollars because every piece of plastic needs to be replaced. I get the check from the insurance last monday, and re-negotiate with the shop to only fix anything that is not body damage. I tell them to purchase the body parts and me and my buddies will put them on. With the extra labor cash I decided to buy a Two Brothers pipe and some other stuff so the knuckle-heads on the road can hear me when I am next to them. SO now that you heard about my very first road crash, tell me and the other squirrels who want to learn from this mistake, what I should have done differently. I have some ideas, but I am sure you do too. Thanks group. And if you want to see some pictures go to: http://www.craftcs.net/gallery/Photo...b=CRASH%202005

Checkout the leg on page two.

Damn… that’s all after hitting a jersey wall at 60mph, you got off lucky. Better this, than a speed bump for the SUV.

Hey, I saw the damage and it's not pretty. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be nice while riding on a bike. I never let anyone get by me in a turn. The others can wait and by the way I do see that happening a lot being in the worst State for drivers (Rhode Island). But, most of the time it's because some people just want to see the bike. Stay safe, it could of been a lot worst. I also made up my mind to purchase leather pants. Safety is everything.

Glad your ok, don`t let anyone past in turns if there fast enough to get by they will, and look where you want to go, a classic case of target fixation can happen when mid corner if you start lookin towards the outside of the bend.
