Default Want to buy cbr600, but so many unanswered questions

Hey all, Im glad I found this site - cause everyone here has personal experience and would be able to help me more than anywhere else.
Anyhow, Im thinking about getting a CBR 600RR, and Im trying to look at the economic value of it. So I have a few questions I couldnt find answers for anywhere else.

#1. How many MPG does it get on average
#2. How many miles does a sport bike like this last
#3. How often does it need maintenance
#4. And how often does it usually require new tires
#5. Any other financial issues I should worry about?

Thanks for any help or response

Benedict

#1 I get around 44 MPG
#2 If you take care of them they'll last as long if not longer than a car
#3 A honda needs NO maintenance. JK but the 600RR is very reliable.
#4 Not really sure.
#5 Buying go fast goodies and look good stuff.

#1 I just bought a 2006 and i tested my mileage in the middle of the "Honda Said" break in period and i was getting 38
#2 A honda will get more milage than any other Sportbike. The engines are awesome.
#3 Wash it, clean and lube the chain. Honda are very low maintence motorcycles. just about like a car would be. Oil changes, brakes, etc. no diff.
#4 Stock tires are ok, but really depends on your riding style. Someone who runs the bike hard will most likly buy tires more often than the person who takes it easy... most great tires will last somewhere in the 8-10,000 mile range, unless you track ride or terrorize your town.
#5 Traffic Tickets and Accessories.

1) It gets crappy gas mileage, I get 30 or below depending on the type of riding I'm doing.
2) It will last over 100,000 if you do the routine maintenance and don't wad it up in the first year of owning it...after all, it's a Honda...nuff said!
3) 600 miles, 4000, 8,000, 12,000, 16,000, 20,000, 24,000....
4) roughly every 4-7,000 miles again depending on the type of riding you do and style tire you use.

These questions hint that you might be looking at sport bikes as a commuter and to be honest...if that's the case, they're not good commuters...they'll be a little better than some cars, but these machines are built for performance first and fuel economy was probably an incidental thing. There are many, many bikes that make waaaaaaay better commuters, get better gas mileage and will be more comfortable, so if you want a sport bike because you want a sport bike, get one and if you want a sport bike for economical reasons any bike is good, but there is so many better choices.

+100

These bikes aren't commuter bikes. They can be used as them, but if that is all you are looking for, I wouldn't recomend it. I get between 30 and 40 mpg. The bikes will give you a lifetime of use, but only if properly cared for. Honda's are very reliable, thats why they have such a strong following. Tires will typically give you 8k miles, but can vary greatly due to riding style. Remember chain, sprockets, brake pads all need to be replaced, but not before tires will need to be. Once again, 600rr is NOT the ideal commuter bike, but it is an amazing sport bike.

Anyone that thinks a sport bike is a good commuter probably took a short yellow bus to school too...
