Default Tire thread? Tire thread.

Curious to know what everyone was running....looking for something that has good traction as well as long lasting......Was running bt-016 but they tend to wear fairly quickly.

also....anyone have any tires they used for track days? looking to buy a set of used tires... I've seen a lot on ebay...just dont know how much i trust them. Anyone had any experience with that?

I've got Dunlop Q2's. They stick well, but don't expect to get ultra high mileage without a flat spot

I hope not. My OEM tires were BT-015 and I got over 9,100 miles out of them. I replaced them with BT-016 and I'm hoping to get 10,000 miles out of these. I probably could have easily got over 10k miles with the originals but it was last winter and the bike was already apart in the basement while I was doing other things to it and it was just convenient to go ahead and replace the tires.

Here's the rear tire after 9,100 miles:

Currently have Dunlop Q2's. Will be switching to Pilot Power 2ct's shortly.

Nothing but good things to say about the Q2's, but wanna try the 2CTs.

Michelin Pilot Road 3 Tires. There good. Used them in the rain few times. Not a problem. They will last a long time too. Just under $300 shipped.

Pilot Power 2CT's. If you know anything about tires you already know that Michelin has the most advanced technology and best rubber compounds available. (Gotta love working in the tire industry.)

Gotta go Michelin. Dunlops blow *********. Dunlops last me almost 8,000 mi but they don't grip even half as good as my pilots do. Trust them with my life as all bikers do with tires.

Which Dunlops were you talking about champ? I have a hard time believing the Q2s would lack grip. Jason Pridmore uses them at his STAR school on his stock GSX-R 1000. No way a guy running this fast on them could be bad on grip.

sounds like some bias coming from the Michelin guys. for myself I ran a Dunlop qualifier for my first set got about 7k miles with them. just waiting on my Q2's. the question you need to ask yourself is what conditions you will be riding it. Im going with the Q2's because of the dual compound, a tougher center with a softer side. i wanted the harder center because of my commute being a straight shot. you cant go wrong with Michelin or Dunlop both great tires, just look for the lowest price.
