Default Thinking of getting a bike

Hey all, I posted up in the new new member forum just to introduce myself. I have never ridden a sport bike before but I am really interested in learning how. I know everyone has to start somewhere. I wasnt sure if this was the right part of the forum to post this or not, so if I am in the wrong section then mods please move this wherever need be. I was looking at the CBR600 but after reading more and more about it...maybe its not the best bike for a beginner. I do not need anything new or crazy. I just want to learn and then upgrade from there. What are some bikes that people would reccomend for a noob such as myself? I am tryin to stay under 5k if possible. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

If you do a search of 600RR vs F4i ..... or RR vs F4i, or anything of that sort should pull up results in which you are looking for.

Thanks everyone for the replies, that was actually one of the last threads I read and I read it all. Seems like alot of people reccomend a Ninja250 or something comprable to that. Well I think that is where I should start then. Does anyone know any good sources to get a bike like this in the Tampa area? What year would be around the best to get. If I am getting used and looking to upgrade later then I would like to spend no more thank 2k for this bike. I am willing to start slow, learn and grow and get a faster bike later. I was talking to a friend and they said I should learn how to drive a car first. Not like just drive but you know how to really DRIVE like race. Dont get the wrong idea with me though, I am not getting a bike to race. I think it would be nice to learn to ride and take out when a car isnt neccessary. I fully plan on practicing as much as possible and not just taking it out on the weekends. If there is any info that anyone can help me with it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

You can pick up them 250's or 500's dirt cheap too under $1500 for a decent one!!. I would lean towards the 500, especially if you are over 160 pounds.

I was thinkin of getting a 250.... but then I know someone said that if you are more than 160lbs than maybe a ninja500 would be better. I am tied between the two right now. I know the 250 is 36hp and the 500 is the 60hp so I guess either is still a beginners bike right?
