As much as I hate to say, but if you are that short go sit on a Gixxer. They have the lowest seat, but that is not the only thing. The seat is much narrower than CBR. You will find you will be very comfy on this bike. I am 6 foot, 205 and am barely flat footed on what I consider the CBR to have the highest seat height in the class, except for Triumph. My good buddy has an 06 636 and is 5'7, dropped it twice on the first day. Since then though, he is by far the best and fastest rider ergo no "chicken strips". My other buddy has the 06 Gixxer 600, I have bent legs and flat feet on this bike. My buddy with the 636 is almost flat footed on the Gixxer. You can learn on any bike, but you will probably be more comfy on the Gixxer at the start. Hope this helps.

Those motorcycle boots might actually do the trick. One problem would be trying to shift and trying to brake.

Actually Fretless is pretty much right on the money. Once you lower your bike, everything changes. It may very well feel more stable because it has a lower center of gravity, but all the geometry of the bike has changed. You'll end up dragging the pegs and your feet easier causing instability, possibly bottom out on the pan or fairing plastics too. Your turn in ability has also changed. The swingarm in relation to the frame has also changed decreasing the angle. Do what you want really, but it's not a change for the better.

F4I was my 1st bike...I was tiptoed all the time and was learning to deal with it (not pulling into spots I was going to have to push backwards out of etc) until one day after about 3 months of riding, I pulled up to a red light in the left turn lane and reached to put my feet down and on my left side, there was a huge dip in the pavement from cars sitting there and the bike started falling over cuz i hadnt touched the ground, as that was happening a van wizzed by me and I could almost feel that mirror of that van touch my ear. That very night I lowered that thing 2" and every riding experience I had from there on on was about 20x better. way more enjoyable to ride when you are fully confident in yourself on your bike. Especialy if you are new, I doubt you are doing any knee dragging anytime real soon so I say get used to riding, dealing with traffic and so on on a bike that feels good to you. It only takes an hour to raise it back up when you are ready.

To answer your question, yes I agree with your opinion. Finally a guy with brains. Let me tell you, there are not too many members with brains in this forum, no offence to the innocent guys. I'm talking about a couple of guys in here that talk out of their ***. You can't miss them.
Your one of the few that actually makes sense and has a fair answer and solution. Thats tough to find in these forums, keep up the good work. I too had mine lowered 1" and I feel more in control of my bike. And not just at a stop or a red light, but also through the twisty roads in my city. If I ever did get to the point of knee dragging, then maybe I would think about putting the height to stock, and maybe throw in some rear sets for extreme lean angles for good measure. But you won't see me at the track, maybe the drag strip, so knee dragging is the least of my worries. Besides a buddy of mine doesn't have his bike lowered, and he still scrapes pegs when he goes to the track. He did have problems with that until he put in some Vortex rear sets. To each their own I guess...

Try shaving the seat if you decide on an RR...Many new riders are concerned about having both feet flat on the ground, however it's not completely necessary to safely operate a motorcycle...if you need to back up your bike, get off and push it...that's what I do and it's a lot safer than paddling backwards (doesn't look as silly either). How many of us sit with both feet at a light? I hardly ever do...I usually have my weight shifted over to one side with the bike balanced and my right foot on the rear brake, or more importantly I typically have my left foot on the peg ready to shift out of neutral (because I hate having to hold the clutch too long) and go when the light turns green...that's real world, everyday riding...that's how I do it! I rarely ever have the need to sit with both feet flat on the ground.
