I have a genuine Honda service manual at home, and can check it to see what it says when I get home from work. It's for the '03-'04 600RR, however.

I'm curious because I was going to take my swing arm off to powder coat it black.

So by "bar" you mean the swing arm pivot shaft? Did you loosen the pinch bolts?

I'm not sure if we need to remove the bearings to have it powdercoated or not...I'm gonna start taking it off today/tonight...

So LongBeach, any luck with that swing arm? I got my bike down to the swing arm this weekend, I still meed to remove the rear shock and it should come out. I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove the exhaust to take it out, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Any luck getting the pivot shaft out? If it's like my '04, there's a allen key type socket nut on the right side, that is 19mm, and the head on the left side is 17mm. I got mine loose before I suspended the bike from the ML beam in my basement, but haven't removed it yet.

Let me know how it's going for you...

And the bearings will need to be pulled from the swing arm before it's powdercoated.

Plus, I'd like to re-apply the "unit-pro link" decal on there after it's black, anyone got anyideas where I can get adecal?

Just removed my swingarm this weekend for PCing and only needed the 17mm on the left side to get the pivot shaft out to actually remove the swingarm. No need to take off the exhaust. I was wondering if the bearings needed to be removed to get PCed and according to another post (https://cbrforum.com/m_470690/tm.htm)you just need to degrease the bearings and mask them and they should be fine going through the oven. Going to get the tires taken off my rims so I can get all my parts done at the same time.

Yes, I only used the 19mm to loosen the pivot shaft nut, I guess it depends on which pinch bolt you loosen and it doesn't matter which side.

What do you guys think about black forks? Woody6799 has a bike he's working on that he put black forks on, which was going to be my next pc'ing adventure...I like the look.

And I'm just gonna remove the bearings all together, if I have to replace them, I'll replace them. I'm worried that if I leave them in during the process, something will happen and once I put it back together, I don't want to take it back apart over bearings.

Stockrocket, how did you get the rear shock off without taking the exhaust off? It can be done, I guess?

I'm also putting new Pilot Powers on my ride, that's how this all started. I was taking the tire off and I figured, why stop there? I still got 6 weeks till the riding season begins here anyways.

When I removed my swingarm the shock and sh** was still connected. After having the swingarm off I removed the rear shock. Didnt seem all to bad once I got it apart, just hope I dont forget how to put it all back together by the time I get my PCed parts back.

I think I'm going to try to remove it with the shock still attached...then remove the shock. Not sure it's exactly the same, as mine's an '04 and yours is an '06, they may differ slightly.

I have a factory Honda service manual, so if you need me to take a pic of the rear assembly, I can easily post it on here or email it to you. Again, it's for an '04, but how different can it be? When I get home from work, I'll take some pics of the pages and post them on here to see how it works out.

I was afraid I wouldn't remember how it went back together either, and I found the service manual online from a dealership in Boston that was selling it's whole collection, cheap. It was a good score. Got it for $15 shipped to my house and then started the dis-assembly.

The swing arm is easy. I would replace the bearings if it were me while it is out. If you need detailed pics on the removal or re install let me know..
