Still Wondering on what to do
Hey guys im new here but im waiting till christmas to treat myself to a 06 cbr, this will be my first sport bike, my other fun bike was a klr 250. I know this is a big difference but i have been reading post where people who have never been on a bike got a cbr for their first bike. some of the responses to them are telling them to have fun and other posts are telling them not to. If you dirve the bike with respect you will be fine im sure, but i would like to know what is your honest oppion. I have riding experence and hear that cbr's can be good learner bikes. What do you guys think.

Cbr600's are a blast. Any 500 or 600 is a pretty good choise to start with. Granted today's new 600's have hella power, it is still pretty tough to flip one on ones self. A 1000 for example, if you accidently whip open the throttle, chances are the bike will wheelie and flip over. On a 600 just always assume the bike has tons of power so you don't try and crack the throttle open is a turn and break the rear wheel loose. Just ride responsibly and not beyond your ability. It takes many years to become a great rider. Take it slowly...

Like you said, ride with respect. Have confidence, not cockiness and you will be half way there. Now all you have to do is look out for the idiots on four or more wheels. I’m not sure if any one bike is better to learn on. If you’re buying a new one, that’s a big investment so make sure it’s one that will be around a while. Try sitting on the different bikes to see which one feels right for you.

I'm on my first street bike (CBR600 F4i) as well. I have always been intimidated by street bikes even though I've ridden in the dirt all my life. The 600 is a good starter bike. It's tame enough that a beginner can learn to ride on it but has enough performance that you won't grow out of it too quick. If you got anything less than a 600 you'd be shopping again within the year.

I got a 600RR as my first bike and I am glad I did. I think the 600 is a good starting place. I took a MSF class and just took it slow from there. I had never riden a bike so I wanted to take my time. I still go kind of slow now and i have been riding for about three months. Just takes time. Don't try to push it. Good luck.
