The GPR is a very good Damper, especially if you like the rotary style.

 

a agree with anubis, the gpr is a great damper if you like the rotary style. another damper you might want to take a look at is the top-mount style ohlins. thats what i have and really like it, but its the only kind ive ever had on a street bike. i have a scotts rotary on my dirtbike and really like it too. its a matter of preference and the look that you like.

 

thanks guys, i was just told that i should get one before summer when i start hitting the twistys hard. this is my first bike so i don't really know ther difference between the two styles. i do like how the gpr looks though.

 

Just a suggestion...

You bike's suspension should come first. Make sure your suspension is setup properly for you.

FWIW, I think many people get a steering damper without ever really knowing if they NEED one. I ride my bike really hard at the track and I feel no need for one. But I also have a my suspension setup properly.

 

I bought a Scotts damper as a knee jerk reaction to a head shake incident I had with my wife on the back of my bike while taking a fast sweeper curve on a local freeway. Prior to that incident I never had a problem. I should admit too that I was reaching for an excuse to buy one. Have I ever mentioned I like to accessorise? I don’t regret buying it because now that I have the damper installed, right or wrong, I do have more confidence on a couple of freeway curves I take to work. At my current skill level they are 100MPH sweepers that happen to be freeway interchange bridges and have seams that could cause head shake but with the damper all I feel are very controlled steering inputs.

I went with the Scotts because it is smaller then the GPR but that is the only reason. I have only read good things about both rotary style dampers.

 

How do you go about setting up your suspension. I have never done it. What do I need to look for and how do I do it.

yo mang...you won't be needing the damper for a long time mang...
600rr is plenty planted. as long as you get your suspension dialed in, no need for damper.
lots peeps think they need but in reality, it's just hiding the lack of suspension service, tuning, etc.

first bike RR...take it easy, don't go hitting twisties hard mang...let that come with time and you'll be both fast and smooth while only hitting the twisties at a 'brisk' level, not HARD...
