all we are trying to say is that is not possible due to the fact that the gearing will not allow you to go that fast. and gps is not the most accurate. i got speedo healer and had the m calabirate it on the dyno so im at true speed. google it man , bikes from the shop can be off as much as 20 mph

Yes, your friends stock speedo is most definitely off. They're off up to 110% + 6 mph (that's 22 mph @ 160 mph indicated), which is allowed for by DOT. This is common knowledge.

This is exactly what I'm telling you, stock speedos are unreliable and the calculations alone are plenty to tell the reality.

I don't much care for proof, it doesn't need to be a pissing contest. There is a very finite max speed as calculated by a bike's red line and gearing and for a logical and reasonable person that settles it. If you refuse to listen to that for some reason... well there's not much that can be done for you.

Incidentally, this topic comes up a LOT. Do some searching and reading on here or many, many other websites...

How far should it be off at 110mph?

Go to gearingcommander.com and put in the make and model of bike. Click load gearing and it will enter all of the bike-specific info in for you. Then go down to the 2nd chart and it will show you the top speeds of the bike given certain gearing choices.

And at 110, it would be 93.

Thanks Chuck. I just don't have the time to ravage these boards like I used to.

Thanks that explains it a bit better. Plus I had it set to kph rather than mph.

This whole deal is completely useless considering I don't even have the bike anymore. However I do have to add one more thing. This one is indisputable no matter how many calculations you do or what you know. At the drag track when I passed the 1/4 mile my speedo said 110mph. On the time slip I crossed at 108mph. You can run that website as many times as you want but the track slip doesn't lie. It's possible there may have been other mods that I didn't know about. All that is irrelevant at this point.

So now lets just be friends
