Default Someone tried to steal my 600 track bike.

I just heard bout this site from a friend of mine that told me to come here and ask my questions.

Story:
Last weekend someone tried to steal my track bike!!!! It hurts me to think that someone would steal something from anyone. My next door neighbor called me and told me that he head a truck outside so he got up to check out what was happening. He said that he noticed a red truck at my house and he assumed it was me since i was looking at buying a new truck. I said it was not me. So he went outside and started looking at what was going on and he noticed someone over next to my bike under the carport. He yelled at them and asked what they were doing. They proceeded to jump in the truck and drive away. So the next day i drive 5 hours home early to go and see what had happened to my bike since he said that he heard hammering. I was like FREAK ME. I get home and the first thing i see is where it looked like they beat the hell out of the ignition key hole.

Here is the problem:
It is a track only bike and how am i supposed to get it to start when i cant get a key in the ignition? I dont have a title for it because like stated above track bike. Its an 06 600 so what am I supposed to do?

I am PISSED more than anyone can even think!!!! I hate people like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to hear about the incident man. Sounds like your neighbor saved your bike! You owe him! Its good to have good neighbors like that.

Anyway, you're not in too bad of shape. It is possible to take the ignition cylinder completely out and simply hook up a single toggle switch in place of your ignition to get power to your accessories. This is actually pretty common with track bikes. I cant explain exactly how to do it without ripping it apart myself, but im sure if you search in this forum, you can find a step by step walkthrough explaining how to replace an ignition cylinder with a simple toggle switch.

Good luck man, and keep in mind, things could be a lot worse! You got off in pretty good shape. Some guys on here have lost their brand new bikes with thousands of dollars of extras on them to scumbag thieves. On another note, it sounds like the would-be thief knew you werent going to be home for sometime, otherwise he wouldn't have pranced up your driveway and mangled your bike so bravely. Its a good possibility its someone you know... may want to give a heads up to the cops, you'd be surprised what they can find out with little information, they've helped me out a lot in the past.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

A toggle switch would be cool but that would make it easier to steal!!! I like the idea of having a key to lock the bars and start it.

Nynick: where can I find a new ignition at cheap with keys??
