RE: Someone tried to JACK my bike!!!
I hated worrying about my rides when I lived in an apartment. There are just to many dumbasses out there. I had a really nice SUV when I lived in an apartment and I would get people messing with it all the time. Pisses me off that people have nothing better to do then try and take from others!!! [:@]

RE: Someone tried to JACK my bike!!!
Hi guys.
I just bought my first bike, an 06 CBR 600rr black and I have been looking into anti-theft suggestions when I found this thread. Does anybody have an opinion which bike alarm is the best? So far I have looked into scorpio and gorilla and scorpio seems to be better. I also plan on getting an alarmed disk lock and the strongest cable/chain I can find. Any suggestions?

yo red....havent had much experience w/ many other alarms...just my scorpio which i love (although my remote gives me problems some times). with chains/cables....i would go with kryponite or ongaurd (a little bit pricey for both, but i had a motrax chain that was like 50 bucks...and they cut through that with no problems).

RE: Someone tried to JACK my bike!!!
a guy i work with told me to buy a heavy chain from Home Depot
(the box for the chain said something about 5300 lbs.), a bike tire tube(to cover
the chain), and a good master lock. How does this sound? Didn't try it yet, but sounds
good and a lot cheaper. I don't know what other "pre-assembled chains"(ya know, chains and
cables with the lock built in) are rated at, but this sounds heavier.

That's a good idea and a budget one too which I like, but it's better to buy a chain and lock specifically for the purpose because the ones made for it are hardened to a high rockwell which means it's a **** to cut through. Same with the locks. I'm currently looking at the scorpio alarms and will probably get one with my tax refund. The thing is, my bike had one installed at the dealer for demo purposes but I asked them to take it out since I didn't want it. Now I do for peace of mind even though it's garaged and I don't leave it anywhere.

Try the New York Fuggedabout it chain. I paid $100 bucks for mine, but it's well worth it. I know it can be cut, but not unless someone has some hydraulic cutters, which I believe would make plenty of noise.
The more of a pain it is to jack, the more it will dissuade potential thieves. Chain, disk locks, alarm, and a bike cover are good deterrents. Or just move your bed down next to your bike

RE: Someone tried to JACK my bike!!!
Cheapest way to make your RR unwanted by thieves.
Step 1: Take off plastic farings (except for tail faring and tank cover, see step 3)
Step 2: Zip tie your front headlights on the Front stay bar
Step 3: Add some green paratrooper rope on the back like its holding up the tail faring
Step 4: Slap on some stickers with the words "I'm a sexy beast!" and/or "I'm naked" (use "get-r-done" if you live in the south)
Step 5: Your bike is now safe, enjoy
Your RR should look something like this. (note: RR in pic does not have tail section on)
