a few of our members have that. here's one on a 1000rr. i've heard they're illegal in a lot of places too... something about no light and/or plate position. who knows??? anyway, there are a few guys around here who's got it... and cops don't care too much about it. i guess it all depends on where you live.

if theres no light its ileagle to ride at night, also in the great state of GA if your tag is not visible to servalence cameras (i.e. cop car cameras) its ileagle.

Article 1 of Chapter 2 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to registration and licensing of motor vehicles, is amended by inserting immediately following Code Section 40-2-6 a new Code Section 40-2-6.1 to read as follows:
“40-2-6.1.
Any person who willfully covers any license plate with plastic, other material, or any part of his or her body in order to prevent or impede the ability of surveillance equipment to clearly photograph or otherwise obtain a clear image of the license plate is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $1,000.00."

How can I find out the legality of this in VA? Does the plate being sideways make it illegal?

I have seen tons of people with their license plates on the swingarm. The only thing cops have said about the light over the plate is this.
"We dont care because our headlights will light up your license plate anyways."
