If you're commuting then the f4i is the way to go. Straight roads at constant speed will be boring on any bike you ride.

You can do little mods to the f4i to make it repsond better and it won't cost what a newer bike will.

 

Sounds to me like your kinda leaning towards the RR. Dont get a new one, find a good used 07 and you'll be one happy kid . I had my F4i for a few years, but saw my current RR for an amazing price! to good to pass on! plus its the color choice i wanted.

BTW i also use my bike to commute to work (when its sunny that is) but also get out on weekends and do some twisties or just ride w some friends Def dont drag my knees or anything. Maybe some day ill get out to a track, but around town you have to be extra careful etc. Dont get me wrong i love a "spirted" ride but am also cautious, you have to be.

 

if you want more power at a lower rpm you need more displacement for it to be noticeable

I think I'm going to stick to the F4i for now. The 600RR is an incredible bike and I'd love to have one, but it seems that it's definitely more for the sport riding crowd. I feel like the money I'd spend wouldn't necessarily translate to more satisfaction, other than the fact that I'd think I'm riding an awesome bike. I'm sure I would enjoy it a little more, but probably not enough to dish out the extra cash since I'm essentially losing the bike's intended purpose. I'm very cautious when I ride so canyons and really high speed sport riding is above my skill level at this time.

I just wanted something that was a little more responsive and had better handling. I think the F4i is sufficient for now though. I think I'm more in love with the idea of owning a 600RR rather than thinking about it practically and seeing what would benefit the riding I do to school/work.

 

Good point. I didnt think id sell my F4i this fast, but like i had said, the price was too good to pass on. For sure i will miss my F4i, but dont think ill regret upgrading

I still think you should spend the cash on a Power Commander and tune. You'd be very happy with the improved smoothness and response of the bike.

 

Aren't those like $700? That's like a quarter of what my entire bike is worth lol

 

If you want to try different settings for the f4i, go for a gearing change. I did a -1 for the front sprocket and it changes how you can ride the bike. There is also the quick turn throttle mod that really makes the throttle responsive.

Unless you get a full system, a pc3 and tune aren't going to do what the above mods will.

 

for commuting its not worth it. The benefits of the RR wont be felt that much on the street compared to a f4i, esp in the comfort area.
