Rent a Ducati for boyfriend?
Hi! I am new and I hope you don't mind....my boyfriend has a 600RR that he is modding and I have a question. His birthday is coming up next month and we are going to LA shortly after. He has a few things he has mentioned for his bike that he would like, but I also found you can rent a Ducati 1000 while we are there. Which would you suggest? Is a Ducati that much faster/better than his normal bike that he would appreciate it. I know he has mentioned he likes them, but I am not sure if it is worth not getting something for his bike instead.
Thanks so much!!

I would have to say go with the toys for his bike. While renting the Ducati sounds extremely tempting, and something he would enjoy, don't forget about the crazy traffic that you might encounter. It could be a potential problem on an unfamiliar bike. Ok, now on to the more positive side, if you get him things for his own bike, they will be something he can continue to enjoy even after the trip.
Have a nice trip, and good luck on the decision!

Ok, I've owned and raced a multiude of Ducs... and currently race a 600RR, so
First: the Duacti 1000 (I'm assuming is a SS1000), is not actaully faster than a 600RR, it only makes about 85 hp at the rear wheel, but a ton more torque than the 600RR.
Second: If you rent one for him... He may end up owning one shortly thereafter or you would have to listen to him wine about one for a long while... As these are much more fun and easier to ride around at "legalish" speeds than the 600RR (again it's a torque thing).
Third: Not exactly the bike I would recommend to ride in a unfamarilar area.
Unless you want him pining over a Duc and not you afterwards... I'd get him the accessories for the RR.

Bravo on goin all this way just to make the right decision. Like everyone said, you have to worry about him being safe as well as having fun.Im sure he would like getting parts for his bike rather gettin to ride a Ducati. Because there is no bike better then YOUR bike. Least thats how I feel. And you could help him make it even better!
Good luck on the decision and have a great trip!

here's an idea, how about you buy him the mods for his bike, then rent me the ducati since i'm close to LA? on his birthday i can call him up and tell him all about riding it - it would be pretty much the same thing as him actually riding it, minus the risk. it's a win/win imo. let me know
