I don't know if using a regular auto coolant could do any damage but there are lots of motorcycle coolants in the market specialy designed for motorcycles! For example I use 'Castrol motorcycle coolant' which has a superior heat transfer and reduced corrosion agent, helping the bike to run on lower temperatures! Definetly will go for a motorcycle coolant if you're going to replace it!

Usaully isnt a good idea to mix auto fluids and bike fluids. Stick with what the manufactor says usually the best for the bike.

As long as its designed specifically for aluminum engines it should be ok.

Honda recommends diluting automotive anti-freeze 50/50.

Just make sure it has no silicates & is safe for aluminum:

i used automotive coolant in my bike and i had a problem... i kept on overheating and boiling over too fast... i still have it in my bike and it runs fine but i hear water wetter is much better and cools the bike a good 20-30 degrees than what regular auto fluid would. and its designed for bikes

Just be aware that Water Wetter offers no freezing protection. I use it in the track bike; it cools great, but it is simply an additive for water (you can buy it premixed; I buy the additive - cheaper). Using something like Engine Ice or Liquid Performance offers some freezing protection also.

If you're overheating using automotive coolant (be sure to dilute it 50/50 with soft water), you may have some other issue going on.
