WOOO! Alright, here it is. The "revised" version of my Raccoon mask idea I shared with everyone months ago. Today's the day I finally got it all done with great success. I love how it turned out (even more from side viewing angles). Anyway, here's sort of how I did it, and let me know how it looks........



In the pic above, I actually already did the sides of the headlights and remembered to take pictures as I go. So this was taken right after I smoothed and "melted" the vinyl to middle hump on the front of the bike. I cleaned the paint with glass cleaner and a soft cloth, then I sprayed it with a fine mist of soapy water so when the vinyl makes contact, you can move it around and squeeze the bubbles out of it. Then I went at it with a hairdryer to smooth out any perfections. Lots of patience = no bubbles.




This is the middle section after I lightly scored it with a razor blade. I used masking tape as a guide when I scored the vinyl. Then you just pull the excess vinyl away, and out comes your design (with the exception that I didn't keep the pointy look on the end, I rounded it off).




Here is the finished piece. I added the "eyebrows" to the front to add that pissed off look to it.




One of my favorite angles. It freaking looks MEAN from the side. You can also tell that I added a vinyl piece right under the headlights to give an extended look to the intake ports. This really REALLY helped the appearance to make it seem sleeker.

And finally, the pic with the super-freaking-awesome 10000k HID's. I'll take the daytime pics as soon as I get a non-rainy day to wash it all up and get it looking REALLY good.

When you scored the vinyl with a razor, it was on the bike right? So you probably scored your fairing too right? Have you figured out how to do this without cutting into your vinyl?

Looks great. If I didn't have all black I'd get it too. Imo, the 03-04 front cowl looks a bit darker/meaner than the 05-06 front which seems like it's afusion between the RR and F4i.The mask adds a growl to an already cool looking bike. Nice job!

Yeah, I have no doubt in my mind that my paint is scored underneath the vinyl. But the only places that it's scored is on the little hump in the middle. The rest I cut and fit before I laid it down, but the middle was almost impossible to do that way. So if anything, I'll have a couple of score marks down the sides of that hump. No biggie though. I don't plan on removing the vinyl anytime soon.
