Cool thanks! I pick up my bike Monday and gonna spend some time in the parking lot workin' on this.
Just a side note on the throttle technique, you are doing a quick on/off roll of the throttle, just a quick stab of the gas if that makes sense? Like a quick vroom...

Nailed it. Just a quick on/off before a slow release to engagement point of the clutch when downshifting only. This action happens in 1/2 of a second. No need to blip on upshift. Also, the higher the engine speed at time of downshift, the higher the blip revs need to be. My blip is prob around 2500 rpm for a downshift from 4th at 7500 rpm to 3rd. The trick is in the slow steady release of the clutch.

I do the same thing in my 6 speed car. quick throttle opening to match current gear speed to get a smooth transition to lower gear when d/s'ing. im not experienced at all with bikes but i am with cars so that makes sense.

1: Pull the clutch in (enough to disengage it depending on how yours is adjusted)
2&3:Blip the throttle and downshift (same time)
4:Quickly release the clutch as your foot is coming up from the downshift.

The only thing you need to get used to is how much throttle to give it while your raising your rev's to match the lower gear. It will come with time and practice. Just remember this all happens very fast (split second). This is the technique i've used my whole life, ive been riding since I can remember. Hope this helps.

I have a video on youtube if anyone wants an example. My buddy recorded my 4th gear stand-up right next to me and to prove I was in 4th, I started in 6th and downshifted twice to 4th but I matched my revs and the camera is right next to me. just thought it could help if anyone wanted an example search Stay2ned1 on youtube and its the "4th gear stand up 2".

I do this with out thinking about it. Not something I even practiced, I just dont like the jerking of the back tire. I dunno how I know how to do it, I just can, and i did this with my old fox body mustang too. although it was harder with the car.

If someone put on a power commander quick shifter how would that affect downshifting?
(sorry if this is a bit off topic)
