Default problems with my 03

Somethings wrong with my bike. I started it up today and it seemed to be idleing a little low, so i gave it some throttled and when the revs went back down it died. Started it back up and it was idling low again and then died. Took it for a spin around the block and it ran fine as long as I kept the revs anywhere above idle speed but as soon as I let off the throttle it would die again. Anyone have any idea what the deal is? thanks.

What is your idle speed and how old is your battery?

Also, it's new to me, but I've been reading that the 03 had/has rectifier issues.

your idle should be 1300RPM +/- 50 rpms

Try adjusting your idle.

Adjust the idle by using that twisty adjusting thingy (official term, lol.) on the left side about 8 inches up from the shift lever. As slugger said before, idling should be right around 1300rpm.

So thats what that twisty thing is for. I definately remember my roomate messing with it the other day thinking it was a dipstick. Dumbass. I'll have to punch him in the stomach for that one. At least it wasn't a big problem with the bike. Everythings cool now. Thanks guys.
