Default Preload setting??

Hi to everyone.

I've just bought my first 'big' bike - CBR600RR - 7, butcan't ride it on the roads until September 1st, since it's on the new '57 plate. I'm quite a heavy guy - 115Kg or so (and 6ft 4in).

The bike comes with the pre-load adjuster on setting 4 out of 10. I'm not too sure, but should I adjust this to 6 or 7 to make the rear suspension a bit stiffer?

Also, tried to follow the instructions in the manual but the pin spanner (or C spanner) just keeps slipping off. Tried this with the bike on a service stand, but the weight of the bike is still therefore on the rear shock. How can the rear of the bike be lifted safely so that the weight is not on the swingarm??

Your help is much appreciated.

Your preload depends on rider sag. you adjust that first. however before all that, you much set up your springs for your weight.

take a look around for Rider Sag and Preload adjustment calibration. adjusting it without measuring bares a fruitless tree.

You want to measure total sag from no weight on teh suspension to how much sag you have with you on the bike and the suspension settled. You are looking for about 35mm total sag both front and rear.
