Default Oil filter

Ok so i was changing my oil and was wondering how tight is the filter supposed to be. The one that was on thier from the dealership (original. just did the 600 mile) was f ing tight. I couldnt even do it by hand. And ive never had a problem with one on any vehicle before. So i was jw. Thanks

J

turn the filter until it makes contact and it's a tad snug. give it a 1/4 turn by hand and you are good to go. the filter usually tightens through usage.

I think the actual torque spec is 40 pounds, which is about hand tight!

Yep, done mine a couple of times. Put it on hand tight then gave it a slight further tighten with a wrench - not too much though! It was fine, no probs.

tell me about it, haha! i had to make a special filter wrench for it (i.e. i drove a screwdriver through that sonofabitch so i could turn it)

i have a question for anyone out there who can answer it. i just took my oil filter off for the first time, and now i can't figure out how to get it out. Do i have to take anything else other than the fairings to get it out?
