new tires? suggestions?
so my tires have about had it, the rear tire is bald in the center and the front is worn un even from bad tire pressure. I am probably going to replace both together.
most of my riding is pretty in town to school and work so i dont want a soft race tire that i am going to eat up quik, but at the same time i want something that will stick when i want to hit some curvy roads.
are dual compound tires a good idea? could i get a decent pair for around $200?
what are some good web sites to buy tires from? and can a local tire shop instale them or do i needa bike shop to do it?

i just got a pp2ct rear tire...im on the fence about it ...seems to ride a lil tough for me..but idk i was used to 30lb pressure in the factory tires and the pp2ct requires 36-42 so maybe i never really experienced a proper rough feel bumps in the road sport bike ...

It seems like its already be said, but Michelin Pilot Power CT2. Excellent tire, I found them for 300 for the pair at the link below. Hard compound in the center for mileage and heating, and then soft on the sides for when you want to get down. All around great tire, and you can get them in whatever density you wish depending on how you ride. They also last quite a while, even if you like to spin em' before you go.

To be honest, Dunlop Qualifier's are underrated tires. People don't seem to give them their dues. The bikes at the California Superbike School are equipped with regular, off-the-shelf Qualifier's. I had my doubts when I first noticed them, but after a lap around Laguna Seca, the grip from the tires exceeded any of my expectations. Not even once did ever feel like the tires were going to let go, not even during full lean.

Pirelli's always get good reviews. Never tried them.
Dunlop GP208's are the best track.sticky tire and actually last longer than the qualifier's imo.
Michelin's are the tire for anyone but me.
If the pavement is perfect great. Hit a piece of even dry road paint, or a place where they have patched with tar, and yeah you get good
feedback....that it would be really quick when the traction went.
There is no linearity for me in Pilot Power's.
