my friend whos always talkin **** about this and that told me the new cbr's come wit governers, is this tru, and if so it doesn't even make sense.

 

the 07 and 08s? hell no. they max out at 164... a 600 couldnt go much higher than that no matter what.

My '05 topped at 165...I can't see it topping out at the same speed as an 07/08, but I'm sure the speedo was off too. That's pretty much the capacity of these bike guvnah

but i got a friend with an 06 gixxer 600 and another friend with an 07 gixxer 600 and they both peg at 167 lol

 

mine did 172 on the speedo. i was told this translates to 152 or 3 in reality.

my cousins 04 gsxr 600 does 171 on the tach.

 

no not 153... dude your talkin way off, our tachs are at most 5 % off. thats what, 156 at top speed if your reading 164, and thats at maximum error. they dont start off at 5% off, just capable of getting that way due to wind speed, rotation miscount, and whatnot. and plus 164 is just the top I have personally seen someones speedo read.

and by the way, cbr's supposidly have the best tach technology on them stock, and the gixxers and ninjas have crappy ones that can go off by up to 8 or 10%. i have heard this from countless technicians around here.

Well that explains it. I was going to say...

I have a friend who used to own like (will that word work for me?) an 02 R6 and he claimed he saw 170 on the speedo. I just don't see that, due to me talking to someone recently who has a gsxr 750 and said it would top out at 176 indicated.

So we have better tach's, that explains it

 

i'm a small guy about 130-140 lbs. i have a few friends that are cops and we got bored one night and decided to go out on a closed part of the high way and see how far off my speedo was at top end.. speedo read 182 (stock sprockets and new tire) radar gunsaid 176 so yea the speedos are off a little but we go more than 164... bikes an 06 600rr, custom kr tuned slipon and a very well mapped pc3
