RE: new 600rr rider
I'm 6'-2" and am as comfortable on the 600RR as I could be on any sportbike. In other words, you'll find that Honda fits a wide variety of human frames and builds, better than most manufacturers, but if you are buying a bike specifically for long distance riding I'd look at the VFR or an F4i.
I've gone out for a couple 100 mile rides on the RR, and that's about as much as I am comfortable doing in one stretch.
As far as looking at bikes, all I can advise is ensuring that proper maintenance intervals have been kept, the bike has been garaged (minimal rust), and the title is clean and not salvage.

+1 to what Bell said. I rode my06 RR on a 2800 mile trip 2 weeks ago and talk about uncomfortable. But maybe the new Corbin seat i bought will take care of some of that. ( Thanks Bell ) But if youre lookin for a lil more comfort and close to the same performance the F4i is the way to go. Plus if you like to give people rides and stuff like that the F4i banana seat is much more comfortable compared to the RR's little patch of foam they call a rear seat.

I've ridden as far as 300 miles in a day without too much discomfort, though I will admit, my *** was pretty sore the last 50 miles or so. However I'm 5'9" so that probably has a little to do with it. Anyway, if you haven't already done so, try to find a bike like the oneyou want and sit on it to see how it feels, this type of thing is pretty subjective after all.
