Default Mystery box under fairing

Ok, I was changing the oil, took the fairing off, and found this mystery box.

It's got what looks like a key controlled lock on the top, but my key doesn't work with it. It's a brand new bike, so there's no way this wasaftermarket. The bike is an 06 CBR600RR

Thanks for any info.

That would be your tool box. the "Keyed" access, isnt keyed at all. it's just a lever. use your key, a screwdriver, a dime... whatever.

BTW, there's no tools inside either. Honda saw fit not to equip the 05-06 models with a full tool kit in the crate. if you've got one, it's because the dealer put it there.

It's suppose to be the tool kit box (which they don't supply anymore) and you don'tNEED a key, even a screwdriver will open it...pfffttt...newbs...

Thanks all. Actually mine did come with a tiny litle tool kit under the passenger seat. Dealer must have stuck it there, but now I know where to move it and stick my insurance and registration. Thanks again.

I would think twice before putting your insurance, registration and tools in there. Taking off your fairing every time you get pulled over might be a hassle (especially if your tools to take off the fairing are in there too.)

Just a suggestion.

I must have gone temporarily retarded for a moment. My bad.

He's going to move his toolbag that was under his seat to the little tool box under the fairing, and put his registration and insurance under the seat is what he means, Bluefox.

Yep, that's what I meant. Also I don't think I would need tools to get into that part of the fairing. just a dime and I could pop the out the clip and the large swivel lock and the fairing will pull far enough away. but yeah, the rear seat locks so I'll keep the paperwork back there, and move the tools to the box under the fairing. thanks again.
