lost first gear wtf????

Default lost first gear wtf????

so i was riding on the freeway, crusin 6th gear for a whilie got off, was slowing down to the stop light off the freeway, couldnt drop it into 1st... or even N , so i left in 2nd, and whilie i was riding tried mashin it down inot 1st, no good. pulled into a parking lot after afew lights of 2nd gear starts... couldnt get it in there, so i kept riding, randomly got it into 1st rode it to my destination. got on it after an hr and a half, and now 1st gear is really shady... and when its in 1st and i push down more, instead of it not going down anyfurther like normal, it has play to it.... please help me out people what is wrong, did i loose a tooth or something????

Sounds like a bendt shift fork to me.

Only if you consider spliting the cases and pulling the tranny easy. But if you are loosing / lost 1 gear already that's what your going to have to do anyway. But I would double check everything externerally first - mainly the shift linkage. Who knows you might just get lucky...

Usually it happens becuase of improper shifting (ususally to "soft"), but it is a Honda and they aren't exactly know for having great transmissions.

****... looks what i know what im doing in my spare time for a week... i checked the shift linkage when i got home... im going to check it again soon... ****, wut a day.

i ordered a new chain at EMA and will be having it put on, do you think having the old chain a lil loose could just casue it to malfunction some how.

No. Your problem lies somewhere else. It won't shift in at all? If you've checked/adjusted the linkage and it still won't work, you're probably dealing with a fork problem, as stated before.

it shifts... threw 2nd-6 fine, but 1 and N is very skecthy and sometimes i cant even get it in 1st or N

Have you downloaded the service manual from general tech? If not, do it and see if the 1st/N are on the same fork because that will most likely be your problem if shifting in the other gears is ok.
