Default Lock box under right plastic

When i was putting on my front leds i noticed on the right side a little plastic box container thing. It had a lock thing on it that my key didnt seem to want to work on. Anyone know what this is. I have an 05. Thanks

It is the tool box and your key does work. It only fits in about half way. It's not the best fit and it's a pain to get to if you have to. You almost have to have a knife to remove the plastic rivet and a screw driver (a coin will work) to turn the quarter turn screw that holds the fairing on.

if its the same as my 03, and it probably is...its your toolbox

you dont have to take the whole fairing off, just unscrew closest bolt with soemthing as simple as a quarter.

your key goes like 1/3 the way in, and it opens - dont need to jam it in there at all.

hope this helps.

interesting. thanks alot guys. i still think that its a stupid design. and just curious y do the tools come from the dealership under the rear seat and not the "tool box" where they r supposed to go. or is my dealership just not smart.
