Please explain to my wife why a 6'1" 220lb guy can't buy a Ninja 250.
So are you man enough to tell your wife that she was right??
wow. never sieze to amaze me. heres some amo. just tell her the new 250s are completely different, and you thought she was talking about the old 250s. so she will be "wrong". never let her win. haha

**** all that ish....buy w/e the **** u want! KEEP and MAINTAIN a SMART HEAD on your shoulders dont exceed your limits(ie. get throttle happy) and ull b fine! theres nothing wrong with wanting to look cool and BEING SAFE while doing it..its all about pacing yourself!

wit dat sed...PEACE!
problem is that buys rest in peace more than it does safe n skilled riders.

sit on a 250, if its too small get a 500, or an SV, for FZ 6 or one of those other street/cruiseing things. sport bikes are not good to learn on. they arent bad looking and they will get you where you need to go, rather quikly i might add, they are all defininatly faster then most cars. what ever you buy, buy used, odds are it will get dropped or you will get sick of it, or both, no need to throw wads of cash at something you are going to trash and get sick of in a year.

with that said
I got my 600rr as my first bike almost a year ago and have had no mishaps, not even a drop in the parking lot. (knocks on wood very hard)

can you learn on a sportbike? probably, is it a good/safe idea? probably not.

when it boils down to it, its all about the rider.

WHATS WRONG WITH A NINJA 250??? It's a ninja isn't it!!! I was able to ride a 2007 ninja 250 up to 100 mph! I'm not 6'1 but I weight the same as you! I was quite amazed! I think your wife is just wanting you to get it so she will be like.... "honey can you teach me to ride?" and she'll sooner or later take it from you! What about a supermotard bike? You know like the DRZ400SM. It is tall enough for you, and is bigger than a ninja. You'll have tons of fun on it, but it isn't stupid fast as a all out sport bike. I am actually thinking about the ducati hypermotard! I don't know why, just really like that style, minus the dill bill for the front fender! The power to weight ratio of a motard bike, and how light they are which only makes you more comfortable with....It is a good thing. I ride a Rebel mostly right now,, and I know I look stupid. And everyone cracks up when i turn and all you hear is pegs scrapping! But the 70 mpg is what I ride. Leave the 954 at home for the weekends, and building a ninja at home!

I just bought a 2008 CBR 600 (Graffiti) about 3 weeks ago, and I just got home a little while ago from buying a 2008 Ninja 250 for the wife. I have to go pick it up tomorrow, and even though i already have a brand new 600, I'm really anxious to ride the 250!! I'm new to riding sport bikes, even though I have ridden street bikes, and I race motocross, so I'm anxious to see how much I can learn on her bike. I think it will help me learn more bike control in corners since I dont have so much power to hold on to and its so much lighter. My wife is 104 lbs and even she said the bike is so light that when she picked it up off the kickstand today, she thought she was gonna flip it over on the other side. I agree with everyone else and say go with the 250.

yea get the 250 i started on cruisers but MY first bike was a GS500F loved that bike . out rain many 600's and 1000's in corners :P jimmy one of the ride smart instructors here at the texas tracks has a 600rr and a yzf 400 he uses the yzf400 as his track bike .. and just runs over the big bikes you cant put a price on skill learn from the small one use it to its full and then step up ..

I have been learning to ride on a Ninja 500RR and ride my friends 600s on occasion, I feel its a must to start low and work your way up. I respect the power of 600s more now then when I first started jumping on bikes, either way good luck and be safe.
