RE: im 5'10 225lbs am i too big for a 600rr..
I was blasting him because of the flaming post he left for everyone. I don't mind flaming someone when its needed. Bottom line is his remark was not true the 1000 is bigger and that little difference is a big on for people my size and up. I should know i have an 06 gsxr600 and 06 cbr600rr. And even more useless info. 1000 has more power than you could ever use come the freak on geez thats true for a 600 as well who needs to go 160mph true speed ive been 169 on mine wich is probably about 160 actual miles per hr. once again one person turning the postings around like I said not worth my time.

go to the racetech webpage and look them up. they have a lot of items there to make your suspension better and you might want to take a look at other items besides springs

I'm 230 lbs riding an 05 600RR, all stock suspension. I ride only on the street with some wheelieing, looks like I need to respring. This is some good info! Feel free to shoot me some recommendations, as far as springs go, for my size if you got em.

you can get aftermarket rearests which will allow you to adjust your foot position.
as far as power, the 07/08 600rr is as powerful as litre bikes were a few years ago so you are fine there. the only thing you might want to look at is suspension
www.racetech.com has a spring weight calculator
you didnt say what year 600 you were looking at so here are some numbers
for your weight on an 07 600RR
stock fork spring rate 1.0
recommended spring rates
street .943 *so you have more spring than you need for the street
racing 1.008 *so you are only .008 kg/mm off ie just fine
stock shock rate 11.0
recommended spring rate
street 11.22
racing 11.78
for the 05/06 600rr
stock fork rate .83 with same recommended rates for your weight so you would have to respring or the bike would handle like crap
stock shock rate 11.0 same as the 07
for the 03/04 600RR
stock fork rate is .814 so it would be even further off
stock shock rate is 11.0 again
so hope all this helps,
spring swaps are easy if you need it and a properly set up suspension will make a huge difference to any bike.

Again, awsome info! One more question. I've never messed with the settings on my forks. Can I stiffen them up a little to help until I can respring or will this even help? I only know what I've ridden, I probably don't know what a good suspension feels like. All help is greatly appreciated.

it is a science though, you cant just start turning dials
the best resource i have found on how to get a suspension started is here.
http://www.1000rr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14616
its for the 1000rr but the theory and baseline measurements are the same
start by setting the sag using the preload dials
compression and rebound all work based on correct sag
sag is decided by spring rate, body weight, and preload setting
follow this guide and you should be close enough to get you by until you can respring.

RE: im 5'10 225lbs am i too big for a 600rr..
No.
I'm 5'10 and about 205...maybe 200 now.
The 04 600 RR I have is the first bike in the 600 cc range that I tip toe at when stopped and sitting on the bike.
Now, the F2 I have...yeah, it's a bit shorter, smaller front to back.
The GSXR's are the smallest bike of course. Even their 750 is about the size of a 250 Ninja.

RE: im 5'10 225lbs am i too big for a 600rr..
5'9" Approx 200lbs... Fast enough for me with a -1 front sprocket. I can get my thick boots to almost flat foot on both sides. If I don't wear thick boots, I can only get one foot completely down. It'll be plenty fast and do what you want on the street. As recommended before, serious track days may require a better suspension set up.
