Default RE: how well do frame sliders protect?

I always hear the "don't get aluminum"...i agree that aluminum is less forgiving, but i have yet to hear of someone bending their frame because of aluminum sliders. Not sayin it can't happen, just haven't seen it. I laid my 03 down at about 75, and it slid about 200 feet---ground about 1 & 1/2 inches off the aluminum. Picked the bike up, and the only rash was on the tail section. I believe that if i had plastic (delrin) that it would have worn away much quicker and probably scraped the bike all to hell. But that's just my experience with them!!!!

That said, frame sliders are meant to help protect the FRAME...but they do, in many occasions, also help prevent damage to other areas of the bike.

+1 on rearsets,
you should also invest in fork and axle sliders,
plus clutch and stator covers like the ones from woodcraft

My buddy dropped his and it slid down the driveway a bit. He has frame sliders and had absolutely no damage. Of course he has a gsxr where the mirrors are collapseable. Just one more thing suzuki does better than honda.

buy frame sliders to protect your frame, that way when you crash you wont have to salvage title it bcuz of frame damage. just dont get diamond powersports. the best brand in my opinion is crg. kinda hard to come by but they are the best.

I dropped mine 10 minutes after I sat on it at the dealer, after I took ownership of it...rear mirriors scratched...engine cover scratched...clutch handle scratched.

First time ever on a bike. Drove on highway after 20 minutes of practicing on bike behind dealership neighborhood street.

I dropped it a second time 30 minutes later when I got it home. Sitting on it I fell again.

Bravo...I was at a left / right turn stop sign when I tipped over onto the shoulder/gravel/grass. The trucker behind me was an old man and he looked puzzled . I waved him on.

I droppedmy bike good on August 30, '07. I regret not having frame sliders, frame rails, etc, etc. The dealership estimated $3200 for the damages...broken/cracked fairings, scraped engine cover, leaking coolant, handles mis-aligned, etc

ThankGod for Comp Insurance...

...and in the future, thank also forall themfairing protector kits that I willhave on my cbr.
