My vortex slidders should be here tomorrow and I will install them if I can find the time. If not, I'll so it this weekend. Here are the steps I found from members on this site:

1. Take off the fairings
2. Take out the right side engine bolt, I believe this is the side with the pinch bolt, I'm too lazy to go look to confirm but don't forget to loosen it first or you'll be battling with it all day.
3. Install the longer bolt from the frame slider.
4. Now look at the fairing and you'll notice an impression in the foam made from the OEM engine bolt. Cut away enough foam for the slider to go through.
5. Place a hunk of play doh over the spot and remount the fairing pressing the bolt into the play doh. BE CAREFUL TO GET IT RIGHT HERE AS THIS PART IS CRUCIAL to centering up your hole.
6. Carefully pull the fairing off while doing your best to not mess up the impression.
7. Drill a small pilot hole through the centre of the play doh impression from insdie out.
8. Tape up the painted side of your fairing with masking tape to avoid chipping up the edges.
9. Use a hole bit/saw (usually 2") and drill the hole through your fairing.
10. Install slider, remove tape and reinstall the fairing.
11. Do the same for the other side.

Alternate method if you have at least a rear stand and a laser level.

1. Mount the bike on the stand, that way she's nice and stable and upright.
2. With the fairings off, line up the dead centre of the engine bolt with the laser level.
3. For OBVIOUS REASONS, make sure the laser level is far enough away from your work area to ensure it can't be knocked, moved etc.
4. Mount the fair back on and the laser level should mark the dead centre on the fairing itself.
5. Mark the hole and go from step 7 mentioned above. "

BE CAREFUL when looking at the engine bolt impressions on the inside of the fairing on the foam. On the right side fairing you will be fine, however when looking at the left side use caution! On my '04 there were 2 impressions. I almost cut the wrong one! Remember... measure twice cut once!

The bolt behind the fairing you replace with the kit? It's going to be a few inches in front of the rear bolt on your fairing. look at the link abadfish posted for better illustrated instructions http://forums.cbrworld.net/forums/141176/ShowPost.aspx You did know you have to cut about a two inch hole in your fairing for the sliders to fit, right?

I hope you haven't installed your sliders yet. Everything I found here and the net said 2" hole. Well, try smaller. Vortex pucks are 1 3/4". So I now have a 1/4 gap all the way around. I should have measured instead of reading. Doesn't look that bad, but oh well.

I just used the LASER method. Much easier. The playdough or impression in the foam didn't work for me. I didn't have any playdough, I stopped eating playdough when I was 6 so I'm all out. The foam behind the fairing, there are three pieces that come together right where the impression is. So I didn’t trust it. I picked up one oy my laser levels and made a stand to hold it at the right level center of the bolt. Put the fairing back on and put a couple pieces of tape and marked the red dot. Took the plastic off and made sure the dot was still center of the bolt. It was both times so I drilled the holes. Other than slipping with the drill and scratching the decal on the right side, it looks good. The Vortex pucks are only 1 3/4 in diameter, are the other brands bigger? If so I might switch out. I always read drill a 2" hole so I never checked it. Now I have a 1/4' gap all the way around. Now I need 2" pucks. Good luck with your's. By the way, the 05 had a few things different that what I have read. The right side uses a hex head bolt, with a spacer between the frame and the engine and a nut behind the engine. A freaking pain in the *** to line back up and hold in place by yourself. I hope this helps someone out here.
