Depending on what part of the world you are in...that could be normal. I am in eastern North Carolina and in the summer in dead beat traffic...I am running about 217+ temps & in the winter
I am running about 160-180.

wow... this is a common question. It's very normal. The fan kicks on at 219... so it's ok to run around 220 and above also. Once you hit above 225, 230.... then you can worry. Feel free to use the PM (private message) feature to ask me questions like this.... you're probably going to get some feedback on this one like the thread you started on how to set the clock.

It depends, is it the same temp. wheather wise in your area. Because, I notice a difference on bike when it gets a little cooler. On hot days it runs the 205 to 217 and on cooler days I noticed it to be 178 to 190.

Are you implying that the "Is a 1000RR a good beginner bike?" thread is coming up fast? Anyway, the digital temp gauge is the single stupidest thing that's been done to the instrument panel -- ever. Remember the good old days when you had a C and an H? The needle magically stayed around the same area all the time. Now it goes up to 218F and the fan kicks on and peeps panic.

I like the digital read out, I like knowing what's going on. People just need to know the details before they worry about things... and that's why we're here, to help each other out. My dad and brother are both excellent riders and have been for years. But they ride cruisers and touring bikes, so if they ever climb on my CBR... they will freak when they see 200+ temps. Everyone has to learn sometime.

I can only imagine how hot an oil cooled Katana runs.
