Default Highside Hell

Well its took me 5yrs but i've had my 1st accident.

Slipped on a sunken drain and the bike highsided me right off it at about 30-35mph in 1st gear. Landed on my head and shoulder, knocked myself out cold and broke my collar bone.

One thing i will say is that everyone should make sure they have a crash kit on their bike. I've spent just short of £250 on an R&G crash kit and its saved most of my bike. Only the back tail fairing took damage and i'm replacing that along with indicator and mirror for £270 which is alot better than it would have been if my engine casing and side fairings had gone.

Attached some pics if you wanna seethe damage to show you that a crash kit does actually work

wow, sorry about the crash, glad you're ok though. i also have rear axle sliders installed so its good to know they held upand madea difference in protecting the swingarm.

I'd just set off, and although i know its naughty, i cut the corner on a 90 degree right hander where i failed to notice the wreched drain.
Expensive and painful lesson learned after 5yrs or riding! [sm=chairshot.gif]

Heal up quick! Not too much damage at all, which is good. Those sliders certainly helped out quite a bit, even from a highside. Really saved the engine case. Did you also have fork sliders on? After seeing that, I'd like to invest in the front/rear axle sliders.

I had fork protectors, main frame & swing arm protectors and cotton reals.

I'm only replacing 3 of them as the front fork protectors didnt even touch down. The only thing i might wish i'd had that might have stopped the very edge of my front fairing catching is the R&G bar end protectors, these give another inch of lift if your bars touch down and might just have been enough.

Will let you know how my next xray goes on Monday
