Default Help on buying a new 04 cbr600

Hello I am new to this forum, and also new to the street bike scene. I have been riding dirt bikes since i was five i am now 20. So I know my way around bikes. So anyways back to the story. I found a 04 cbr600 all black for 3500 with 5900 mi. The bike had 2 owners. The first owner hit a dear and wrecked thus totaling the bike. The owner that has it now is 18, and rebuilt the bike to like new form. The kid stated that he let his bother ride the bike. Well the brother came back home and said he laid it down at 10mph. Well it left some road rash on the left fairing and left crank case. It also bent the head light assembly. The kid wants to sell it to get a 1000. kid stated his dad made him get a 600 before getting a big bike. The kid was a "rich kid". It also needed a rear tire and the left turn signals would intermittently work. Is this a good deal or do I need to find a better bike. Thanks for any input. I am thinking pretty hard on buying it. The bike has a exhaust that came out under the tail. Is the exhaust stock? It also had 2 separate seats on the bike(not the bannana seat).

dude, with the bike being in 2 accidents...one involving a deer!...i would steer clear from that...the frame might be jacked, the wheels might have a small bend in them. I wouldn't do it, but its your dime

I rode the bike at 80+ and no wobbles. I let go of the handle bars at 60 no shaking or veering in any direction.

if it's a 600RR (which i'm guessing it is)... the undertail exhaust is stock.

i'd have to pass on this one. spend a little more and you can get a nice, clean, unwrecked bike. good luck bro!

I agree with everyone else. If it was only laid down a couple of times, maybe.......but completely totaled, no. You could spend a couple thousand more and buy a newer one with fewer miles that's never been in an accident.

I would use the same judgement on used bikes as cars. If it's been wrecked (totaled), then the car (bike) will never be the same again no matter what they replaced or fixed.

I can get an 06 600rr for 3500. Wrecked but working with less than 1000 miles. I got my 04 600rr for 2000 wrecked but working. I got the 2003 600rr with a friend for 3900 that was laid down once, but only had a few cosmetic damages. I say shop somewhere else. I'd buy it if it was 2500...

Also, I wouldn't trust an 18 yr old kid to rebuild a bike back up. I don't care how much experience he has. And I hit a deer on my F2 and it still works. :P

ive got a salvage'd bike, however, i got it from a friend who i know and trust. everything is rebuilt by the shop he bought it from, still has warrenty and only 1k miles on it. reason i got it was it was a really good deal and its my first bike so i crash it im only crashing a salvaged bike (not as a big deal to me).
but since you dont really know this bike and its already been in two accidents and the lil bro rebuilt it id pass, its not too hard to find deals on these bikes esp now that its winter a lot will be coming up for sale pretty cheap.

So my dad has a friend that is a service manager at the local bike shop. If I have the service manager check it out for me, and everything checks out fine is it still a good deal?
