Exclamation Help!

I just purchased a 2007 CBR600RR with ~6900 miles. Seller said they replaced the oil, etc...

BUT LOOK!

I believe this is the coolant (since the lower hose runs to the radiator) and its almost EMPTY!

What coolant should I use??(if thats what goes in there)

That's some of the nastiest radiator coolant I've ever seen.

Use ProHonda HP Coolant - ready to use 50/50 blend. Flush your coolant system w/ distilled water & fill w/ coolant. The procedure is outlined in the factory service manual.

Scratch that, I just found a service manual.

SO I just need to wash out the reserve tank with distilled water, then replace with 1:1 ratio of coolant to distilled water? Or is that coolant already mixed?

Not quite...

Flushing the coolant means the entire cooling system. Calm down, it's not brain surgery Basically you need to drain all the coolant out of the bike. Most people just disconnect a hose into the water pump. Then run liquid into the radiator cap until it comes out clean at the water pump. Some people just use a garden hose

While the gunk in the coolant reservoir is concerning, you have to remember whatever is in there has been running through your entire cooling system. You have to get that gook out. The reserve bottle can just be removed and tossed in the sink. But you really want to make sure that chit ain't sitting at the bottom of your radiator.

No, you didn't read this thoroughly...

However, Kuro backed up my post nicely. ;-)

You can find ProHonda coolant at just about any Honda shop or you can order it online.

to get that bottle clean, put a little soapy water along with 10 8mm nuts and shake and swirl them around. replace the soapy water as necessary and repeat.

do not overfill the bottle with coolant when you put it back together.

So I just bought some Peak 50/50 at autozone, a guy there roses bikes and said that's fine.

Emptied my coolant system. Then my service manual suggested using Honda 50/50 and still 1:1 with distilled water, so I did.

Did I do that right?
