Headlights!!!

ok not to be mean but apparently you havent played with your bike a lot.. You cant cut the low beam wire and and expect both lights to come on when u hit headlight switch to high beam. U can cut that wire to run with no lights but y.

I was wondering why they do that to a bike with 2 headlight. I guess because previuosly bike only has one headlight that's why the new bike with 2 headlights(like a car) can only light one headlight. Does anyone know how to turn the light off when u driving it? Or the only way to do it is to cut off the low beam and hit the high beam to make both low and high beam on.

To answer papi's question about the one headlight thing, the reason they do that is so other motorists know that you're a bike. At night if you have both headlights on, because the headlights are so close together, to another driver it looks like a car that's far away, rather than a bike that's actually really close. It's a safety precaution, but I think it's pretty lame.
Thanks bikermike and dragonium25. I didn't mean to actually 'cut' the low beam wire, but to turn it off. You right mike I want the light works like in a car. Where you can turn it on and off. Not turn on the light automatically when I turn the key on the bike. Do you have the link to the thread for the set up that you have on your bike mike?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

i understand now what he meant but where im from people arent too smart i had a guy make it so no lights were on during the day just at night--of course his brake light still worked but no headlights.. To answer you papiindo the post about my set up is in this topic its like the fifht post about it. I dont have any pics of it yet cuz im ridin most of the time and dont get on here to much. But its not too bad of a set up and u dont have to modify ur bike or add another light or anything.. Just 2 new 2 prong sockets 2 jumper wires and 2 new dual filament bulbs 50w/55w. you have to modify the light slighty to fit into your stock headlight housing but i got it to work. I like it cuz the lights work like a care no more u go a headlight out and i didnt have to modify my bike to fit another bulb or 2 or to accpet the new bulbs just the bulbs themselves and it was minimal. Maybe someday ill get some time to post some pics and wiring diagrams for you guys since i know this topic when i first posted it myself bout 4 months ago was one of those what can i do to make this work kinda things. So i sat down and came up with it but u can do what ya want with your bike, but i like the way mine operates a lot better than most of the other modifications ive read about on here...take care and good luck guys
Man bikermike is the guru in this thing.....let me know when you get a chance to write and take a pic of your headlight works. In the meantime I'm gonna do other stuff on my bike.
I'm still kinda new to this thing and sorry that I missed your write up here about 4 months ago.

Hey BikerMike, when you say jumper wires can you be more specfic please?? any and all info(specifics) would be great, i want to do this mod asap but dont want to fry anything.. Thnax Sooo much man, ive been looking for this mod for a looooong time
ok people i dont have pics but i got a the explanation to do this mod and a wiring schematic for now
You want you know i will tell you. I bought dual filament bulbs that are 50 watt on the low side and 55 watt on the high side--youll need two of them. 55 watt is your stock high and low beam.--only diff is in your housing with more reflectors and aimed higher on the high beam right hand headlight. OK i had to modify these new bulbs to fit my stock housing cuz im not cuttin my housing on an 06 bike --ill cut the bulb first. Youll also need new 3 prong connectors to fit these new lights. Alright once you modify your light bulbs to fit--i cut them down smaller cuz the new bulbs are bigger that your stock and i had to make a retainer so your spring that holds the bulbs in still works. Anyway find out which terminal is which on your new connectors--ex ground, high side, and low side. Use your stock ground on your left hand wire from your old connector and connect it to the new connector on the ground terminal. Next take your stock low beam wire and connect it to the new low beam terminal wire on your new connector.. the light should work on low beam. Now to make the right hand low beam come on use a piece of wire i used 12 or 14 gauge wire and connect one end to the connection you just made for your left hand low beam and bring it over to your right hand light. Connect the other end of that jumper wire to the low beam terminal wire for your right hand light. The right hand light also uses the stock ground. Now on the right hand light use your stock high beam wire and connect it to the new high beam terminal wire on your new connector. Take another jumper wire and connect one end of it to the connection you just made for your high beam and bring it over to your left hand light. Connect the other end of the jumper to the high beam terminal of the left hand light. Now they should work like a car does. both have high beam and both have low beam. Make sure no connection is touching first. If the lights work correctly then solder all joints and tape them up or use solder them and use heat shrink tubing your choice. I donโt know how well this will turn out but ill include a wiring schematic i made---good luck
Ps a jumper wire is nothin more than a piece of wire how ever long you make it
ALSO THE SCHEMATIC IS TOO LARGE TO UPLAOD IT SAYS SO ILL TRY TO PUT IT WITH MY PROFILE PICS OR SOMEONE TELL ME A DIFF WAY TO GET IT ON HERE--FILE SIZE IS 450KB

hey man, about this headlight thing.. what sockets did you get? did you get one for a different bike or something? I wanted to do the same thing, but i didnt/dont know where to find a socket that will fit in the bike and that has duel filiment capabilities.. The bulb i should be able to find, but if you could let me know how to get a socket for it that would be great. thanks

I've heard you can turn the angle of the low beam up, and the high beam down, then just run highs on so that they're both on, but not blinding everyone. There's supposedly a screw behind your headlight to do this. Does anyone know where it is exactly? Can you post a pic of it? I have an '05 600RR

If you have the Owner's Manual you can see it on page 70. Otherwise simply look under the windshield where the black rectangle box containing the headlamps is. The screws for adjustng the angle of the lamp is right at the top corner of the black box on each side. Simply turn the light on and turn the screw clock-wise for high beam. Its a good idea to park facing a wall in a dark area and adjusting the light while holding the bike in straight up. Both stock lights are the same power, 55watts.
However, I adjusted the low beam light and raised it, but it stilll doesn't seem to be as powerfull as the high beam light. I think because the high beam light is rotated 90ยบ. If you look at both lights from the back where they are in the box you'll see what I mean.
Does anyone know if the low beam could be rotated 90ยบ counter clock-wise to make it match the high beam?
In the attached illustration. Part #6 fits over 9 and then inside the assy. where the rotated part I am talking about is.
