the ZZR600 is basically a 1996 ZX6R
My first streetride was 98 ZX6R. I was a decent starter bike needless to say I crashed it a couple times.

I sat on the CBR, R6, Gixxer & Kawi when I started looking at bikes. At only 5'6" & 150lbs comfort was gonna
be a high priority for me. The CBR600RR was the winner hands down, this was even before I read all the reviews & tests for the
07 model, which sealed the deal for me. Don't be afraid to get a 600 if it's what you want to ride. Just take some time getting
use to the throttle & power. My only advice is don't ever ever shift in a turn & let speed get you out of trouble.

Glad someone realizes that a 600RR is a good first bike. A 600RR was my first bike and it was great, but like he said, take a while getting used to the throttle and feel.

Do it right... your out to look good, then get the CBR1000RR or R-1. That will draw the attention.

FORGET!!!!! ANYTHING THAT has a 1 in it. R-1, CBR1000, ZX-10, ZX-13...etc. End of Discussion.

Now moving on.... from your selections you posted earlier, I would recommend either theex500, f4i, and the 600rr in that order. And go with used. Because there is nothing more disappointing then dropping a shinny new bike that you still owe serious money on. Not to mention with the money you saveby buying a used bike, you can be smart and invest in gear initially (helmet, boots, leather jacket, gloves, spine protector, riding jean/pants, frame sliders, swing arm spools..etc). "Dress for the crash not the ride"

Again, any bike you go with you're going to have to respect it. A 250 can kill you just as quick as a 1k if you don't have any self control. What is your reasoning for buying a bike and try to be honest with yourself? ... Looks, Speed, Girls, Gas Mileage, ADesire, Handling, Stunts?

The reasons why most people say that a 600rr is a bad first bike are: Touchy Throttle, Powerful Braking, Fast Speed, People getting too comfortable too quick with them, Not as forgiveable asthe smaller bikes. Anyone of these reasons can lead a new rider into a sticky situation QUICK!

Having the right knowledge can be powerful and very useful. If you have the right knowledge and are willing tocrawl before you walk, let alone run with the 600rr then it can be a first bike. If you have the slightest feeling that you might not be able to control yourself or that urge to push it (that we all get) then definately avoid the 600rr and the f4i.

Good Advice from Blue Fox:

"If you go through the class and find yourself hung up on a couple of things, or can't quite get the grasp of something. Or in other words, you don't pass with flying colors............ then the RR is NOT the bike for you at this time. "

Goodluck!
