Getting a new bike
Plan on getting a used Cbr 600rr. I have been riding bikes all my life and yes I do know how to take care of power. I was just wondering, I plan on purchasing a bike on craigslist full cash. The only thing is I wanted to take it to a local shop to get it checked before I purchased it. Is this necessary or am I being "overprotected" of my money. I have saved up for a while and want this to be a bike that will last.

I bought my bike from CL about a year and half ago...I paid 5600 for a 2006 with a little over 5000 miles on it and I just looked it over very well and took it for a test drive. It needed a front tire and that is it. If you have been riding bikes your whole life like you claim you should be able to listen to it run and find any problems. If you have any doubt than take it to a shop.

the shop will just charge you a huge fee to look at the brake pads, check out the wear on your tires, listen for any unusual sounds, and check the fluid levels... start the bike take it for a test ride make sure the engine is smooth and make sure everything seems straight (like it was dropped it the past)
And just ask the owner questions take a look at other stuff he owns... his car, his home ect...
besides that don't kill yourself, your probably 20 years old with only dirt bike experience, don't be stupid....
