Default Get a third key?

I want to get a third spare key for my sister in case she needs to drive it. I want to know how much usually the spare key cost and how long does it take to order one from the dealership.

So I can't just order a few blanks and take them to a lock smith with the title in hand and the key I'm using now and get them cut?

If you have a HISS ignition, then I believe you need a chip in your key which is in the hundreds to buy the key, program the chip and cut the key.

All depends on the ignition, which I'm not sure what the OP has just throwing it out there.

Looks like the OP got himself banned. But for anyone else looking for a key just order them off ebay for a few bucks a piece then take them to home depot and have them cut for free. They might tell you they don't cut auto keys because they can't guarantee a perfect cut but I've never had problems. The keys are so cheap so the risk is nil.

A chipped key will cost a little more but shouldn't be too expensive. I bought a couple chipped blanks for my old Ford Explorer few years back and it only cost me like $9 + shipping for both. Don't know about bikes but even at $50 you'd be getting a bargain compared to the stealership. You'll need to find a locksmith or someone who can program them though.

I'm sure this is an ignorant question, but how do I tell if my ignition is a HISS one? The bike is a 2002 F4i. The keys it came with seem to be just regular metal keys with a plastic end on them, but maybe I'm wrong.

You're right. It's just a plain old mechanical ignition, there's no real key recognition. any old spare will do

Ya I looked it up and lokks like the European model F4i's and RR's have the HISS system. The American ones don't use it.
