Default Gasolina

I got the 05 600rr. It says to use 86 octane gas or higher, which means I could use regular (87). Is that what most of you use or do you guys throw higher octane **** in there like 89, 91, 93? Im going to keep using premium (93) for the first few hundred miles while I'm breaking it in. Should I keep it up after or is 87 actually ok?

I have a little over 2000 miles on my 05 and I always run 93 octane. I read the same thing in my owner’s manual and my first free tank from Honda was low octane. I could hear pecking from the engine with just a few miles that went away with my first high octane fill up. The least bit of deposits quickly deteriorate our engine and performance.

I will only run 91 +... I will seriously pay the extra 40 cents to fill up a 4 gallon tank... its worth it..

^he is right... low octane is POOP.

I only run 91+ also. Extra money is worth it.

I wouldnt waste your money. If the manual states 86 or higher, why would you pay extra for the high grade stuff.

Cause it doesnt burn as clean and doesnt have the protective additives that supreme has. supreme helps keep the engine running clean. its not like there just charging you for extra octane. theres more to it then just a higher octane rating. while low grade will fuel your engine. in most cases it makes new bikes run a little rough.

I'm with EVERY one else!!! Here in Ks, the highest you can get is 91, they quit carrying the 93, but any ways, EVERY tech that I have ever talked to has ALWAYS recommended it because of it's CLEARITY, and PERFORMANCE! Yes, you can run 86-7, but, why would you want to risk dirtying up that badass BRAND new engine?!

Pretty much everyone in Iowa only has 91 too. There is one station that has 93. Some places are selling 90 as premium and chargining $.40 more a gallon when 89 is cheaper. We have 89 with ethonal in it. I have heard a lot of people say it isn't good for engines. I try to use 91 for that reason too.

We must be lucky..... 93 octane is our norm on the east coast. The higher octane, in my opinion burns cleaner causing the engine to perform at optimal levels.... thus giving us better gas mileage. I had a mechanic friend point this out to me. I ran 87 in my car for 3 tanks and averaged the gas mileage. Then I did the same with 93. I know it's difficult to be accurate because it depends on how you drive, but I did get better gas mileage (20 miles on a ten gallon tank) when I ran 93 octane. So are you really saving money by using the "cheap gas"?
