Hey guys i have an 07 and i've been filling it up as soon as theres 1 bar left on the gas gauge. When i fill up, im only getting 2.9ish gallons, so it made me wonder how much gas is left in there and if there is a light that comes on when youre really low like in a car? thanks

read the owners manual.

"the light blinks when there is approx. 1 gal left."

 

the tank holds 4.9 gallons

 

Correct... the last bar will start to blink when you have roughly a gallon left.

 

Yes there is a gallon left in the tank when the light comes up!!
But check out if your bike is one of the 2007 RRs on which they have a recall cuz of the problem with the gas tank!

 

I have ridden mine for 20 miles or so with the light blinking and never put more than 4 gallons in. I wonder if the capacity includes the part of the tank (above the neck) that you are not supposed to fill up.

 

in the owners manual it says you should get about 37 mpg so that sounds about right and i have always thought it was 4.9 right at that "neck part"?

 

Hmm... I have ridden like 50 miles with my red flashing light on once for an emergency and it was fine. I think the fuel tank volume is the full capacity of the tank... Realistically it probably only holds something like 4.5 gallons, which means you should be able to get something like 3.5 in if the light comes on. That is about right, gas around here is 3.79 for prem x 3.5 = 13.26... I usually put in somewhere around 12.50ish though cause I am afraid to overfill.
