he was new to riding and started out on a 2005 gsxr750, he mod'ed it out and in the two weeks he owned it he dropped it twice in a gravel parking lot. he fell into some more money from stocks and bought a brand new 2006 cbr1000rr. on the third day (yesterday) he was riding with two of my other friends and decited to open it up in the passing lain of a 4 lane highway. there was other trafic on the road and a tractor trailer truck changed lanes (into the passing lane with no signal. he was about 10 feet away from the truck traveling at excessive speeds and had no time to slow down. he died on impact of the concrete median. may we all learn a lesson from others fatal mistakes. respect the machine and it will spare you your life.

very true, I see it all the time, guys or girls that are new to riding and run out a buy a sportbike with little or no training. I was lucky, I had friends who lead me in the right direction, they showed me how to ride. I started riding a '80 cb650, and I rode it for 6 months, it didnt have alot of power, but it had enough for me to scare myself a few times. After months of riding that ugly thing, I moved on to a 600rr, but it was too soon, I wrecked it after a few months. I wreecked it because I had lost respect for it, and thought I could ride on public roads like I would ride on the racetrack. I lost concentration and went down...only my ego and my motorcycle were damaged. I took a year off, and have began to ride again. Be careful guys and girls, this is a dangerous hobby, and its not for everyone. Dont become a statistic.
