That's why I bought the Vortex sliders. It uses a metal base with an easily replaceable puck.

I actually have the OES sliders and did a detailed write-up. I borrowed the sliders pic (above) from sodamninsane a few months back in another forum which gave me the incentive to put them on myself.

Nice tutorial. I don't have a nice pointed tool so I am planning on using some playdo on the fairing and put my bolt in and stick the fairing on to get the same results. (Not my idea, saw it on some web site.)

Thanks
Thom

Good luck no1biscuit, I have the 05 600RR... when you take the fairing off, you'll have black foam glued to the inside of it. I didn't want to take any of it off that I didn't have to.

I saw that the other day when I replaced my tank cover. I haven't figured that out yet. I was thinking of eyeballing it and removing the section of foam (carefully) and then reattacting it with some 3m adhesive. Any thoughts?

no1biscuit - I believe you may be able to order the tool by itself from OES. You may want to give them a call.

Default RE: Frame slider question

Hi Guys/Gals,

I installed my Frame sliders Saturday/Sunday.

I bought the tool from
http://www.oesaccessories.com/600RR.html

and tried to use the instructions here
http://www.motovationusa.com/Install_CBR600RR.html

The tool worked great except that when you put the fairing back on to get the impression in the side you need to put all of the screws/bolt back on. I did not and they are both off just a hair forward. I don't think this would have happend if I would have put all of the bolts on.

The instructions from motovationusa.com states that you need a 12mm allen tool but it is really a 10mm tool.

Other than that it took about 5 hours. 5 hours? Why so long? Well if it wasn't for my buddy who said you need loctite on everything (he has a 04 gsxr1000). So it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to get the front left fairing off. Those little rubber grommits that hold the 3 front screws on spin instead of loosing when you have loctite on the threads and the bottom one is a bitch to get too the back side of it when the fairing is still on. What a mistake. If it wasn't for that I think I could have been done it about 2 hours.

Hope my stupidity helps others.

I can get you before and afters only. I had the camera out and took the before pics and then I hit the first loctite bolt and I was so pissed that the camera did not come off the work bench again. I even said a bad word or two. (Don't tell my wife)
